What are the best cities for a visiting provider? I am planning to tour this summer and I'd like to gather an idea of what neighborhoods in NY I should come to.
I usually travel to NYC on leisure but I only ever book with close friends in the Manhattan/Midtown areas. However, I'd like to broaden my horizons and explore other cities in NY too. There is a new boutique in Brooklyn that just opened up I'd like to see too. Is Long Island a really cool city? Any input you can offer?
I find that for providers, midtown is the perfect location to work out of. As far as for leisure, Brooklyn is basically the new Manhattan. thanks to gentrification so Williamsburg is where I'd suggest you explore. Eating, shopping, art.. you can find it all in Williamsburg. Even Park Slope kinda. Long Island was boring to me but maybe someone else may know the Long Island hotspots.
It is broken uo into 2 counties, Nassau and Suffolk. Within these two counties are countless Towns and Villages. The rich and famous spend their summers in the Hamptons (Southhampton, Bridgehamotin, West Hampton, East Hamoton, Hampton Bays) and out near Montauk or the North Fork (Orient Point, Greenport, etc. ). That is far from where most Long Islanders live though. You have the NYC suburbs throughout Nassau and Western Suffolk. Huntington on the North Shore has a great downtown as well as Babylon Village om the South Shore. As far as for a working provider? I would find a nice hotel along the Long Island Expressway and just advertise.
From everything I've heard midtown is the place to be as a touring provider, if you are hosting gents who work in the area for quickie one hour appointments.
As far as exploring the city on your own, there are many hidden gems as I'm coming to find out. People from out of town seem to think that NYC is all midtown and Times Square, but that's actually a very small slice of the entire city. To explore, I'd pick a few places you'd like to visit: Museums, cafes, stores, monuments, parks. Google map it and go. That way, you'll get to see what is around, in the neighborhood, after visiting an event/place. Each neighborhood has it's own unique vibe. As for Long Island, if you mean Long Island City, I didn't find it very special but maybe I've missed something.
