I'm pretty sure they are not related except by name.  The one in NYC has been around for a long time and is very well known.  Have not been to the sfla one before so can't compare.  There is always debate about Trapeze vs. Checkmates, but a lot depends on your priorities for the experience.

I personally would recommend Checkmate--La Trapeze can look a lot like naked coney island. Although, there's no membership there like a Checkmate.

Ahhh...right. I'm really surprised there aren't more on premise swing clubs in this city. To go the good parties--you really have to know people.  

Checkmate is much better, and more upscale. I don't like Trapeze at all in NYC. The one in ATL is quite nice though.
