as that is exactly what i did and had a session with a provider that has it in her profile and when i went she wouldn't use one .
so my question is how do you approach a provider about it to make sure that she will use one ?
i would love the ladies opinion on this as well

I think this is one of those cases where the client has to be very straightforward (and adamant) about his desire to use FCs.

Just like how when I ask a client that's booking an appointment if he has any specific requests (wardrobe, activities, even drink of choice sometimes!), he may also tell me he would like to use FCs during the session. This is either directly mentioned to me over the course of setting the appointment or during the session itself; either way, I always have them on me as an option.  

Ever since I penned an entire blog post advocating for use of FCs, the demand for this type of contraceptive has skyrocketed. You're definitely not alone in wanting to go with a FC, and that's unfortunate your provider was not able to accommodate.  

They really do feel much better for both the guy and gal (and apparently the gays love it too, as I found out on my latest trip to the sex toy store!), can be used for vaginal and anal, and are generally more effective I believe in terms of preventing slippage, leakage, and breakage.

However, it's a free country, so I don't impose my own preference on the client. The bulky, clinical packaging and appearance of the FC makes it a pretty hard sell to those who are unfamiliar with it. Some guys are just very adamant about using male condoms and are either unwilling to try something new or simply don't like the look and feel of the FC, but hey--to each his own!  

Not sure how explicitly you requested the FC with your provider, but perhaps because it's still such a novelty (that one can't even buy in a drugstore and can cost up to 3x as much as male condoms!), she did not want to come off as pushy about using it. Or maybe she just didn't have one with her.  

All I know is, if a client has requested using FC for the sesh, I will absolutely deliver. As an absent-minded person by nature, sometimes a forget, and all it takes is a gentle reminder to pull one out and slip it in my vadge before we do the dirty deed .

Also, in case any of you ladies are still not sold on using FCs, did you know you can insert them up to 8 hours ahead of time, and that it will stimulate your clit while you're just walking around doing your thing?? True story: happened to me during yoga class!!

...have posted extensively on this subject.  Perhaps try searching back through the discussion board for discussions on female condoms.  Providers who discuss using them in forums are likely to actually be happy to use them.  I try to always keep them stocked in my kit, but maybe some ladies only bring them by special request, so if you don't want to ask before the session, try bringing one with you.  You can get them for free anywhere that does HIV testing and gives away condoms usually.  Planned parenthood, gay and lesbian centers, health clinics, etc.  I always get a handful from my doctor, another handful when I get tested every couple months, another handful when I pass nearby the gay and lesbian center, etc.

Apparently we can order a case of several thousands of them in bulk for $1000 which is the cheapest way to actually buy them, otherwise they seem to be $1-2 apiece.  I don't use them often enough to justify buying that many at once.  Anyone want to go in on a bulk purchase??

I once asked a provider if I could ask about outfits.  Note this was more along the lines of "Hey, do you mind as it helps make things interesting..."

She wrote back saying I was asking too much and overthinking and that we should call off the meeting.

This was for a multi-hour session.

I agree with carmina.  The best thing to do is just ask up front. It's not offensive.  The biggest challenge is finding them. As many providers are willing to use/try them but don't have any. I seem to have to bring them with me. Many of the adult video stores have them. Forget Duane reade! And they do feel great and are a must for duo sessions.  It's not a pretty visual though seeing them hanging out...but get over it. It's worth it.

It's hard to discuss logistics beforehand when you can't be explicit.  

A cue such as "Please bring supplies mentioned in your TER profile" might be helpful to ladies who offer the option but don't regularly carry FC2.

Another way to have the exact supplies that you want on hand is to bring them yourself.

My solution is to wait until after you're screened, then have a brief phone call before the session. That allows me to make sure I honor any preferences such as lingerie or outfit requests, nail color, snacks/drinks, etc

Most of us ladies are happy to use them I think??

Whilst they are slightly unromantic to get in situ (which usually requires us popping off for a bathroom visit) lots of guys seem to love them !
