Tomorrow is a City Council Hearing on No Condoms as Evidence! In addition to the Nassau County DA, the Brooklyn DA has already decided to stop using condoms as evidence.
In short, it is currently legal to use condoms as evidence in prostitution (or suspicion of prostitution) arrests - yet condoms are freely distributed in doctor's offices all over NYC courtesy of public funding. This has caused the most vulnerable sex workers (street workers, the trafficked) to stop carrying & using condoms out of fear of arrest. Finally, there is a bill on the table, if passed, will protect public health by disallowing the use of condoms as evidence.
