About 30-40% of the time there is no reference request

What would you say is the percentage of times that you are NOT asked for references? I have found that if a gent contacts me that is not part of TER, more times than not they do not offer references and then when I ask they say they don't have until I can get it out of them as to whom the last lady they saw was etc. and I then eventually get my reference. I'm just curious if requesting references is par for the course or just something that is more popular in our little microcosm?

My guess is they are fairly new to the biz, but that's not always the case.

I should probably add that on several occasions when I contacted female TER members, my TER history and whitelist have sufficed and I was not asked to provide additional references.

I rarely see someone without reviews, and those who have reviews and are on a review site are more likely to ask.

But occasionally I have been known to contact someone from BP or CL.  They almost never ask for references.

Also, people I have at parties rarely ask for references.

And people I have chatted with online also rarely ask for references.

Finally, of those that do ask for references, I'd say less than 25% of them actually contact the references.

I've been in the hobby for over 20 years. Before the Internet, and really until just a few years ago, screening wasn't practiced much at all. When the only place to find a provider ad was in the back page of the Voice or New York Magazine (or pubs like Action), you'd call, get a rate and a general location and decide whether or not to book an appointment on the spot. Then, you'd call again when you got to the corner outside her place. Hence the so-called "two call system." If you look at reviews on TER for providers advertising on CraigsList or BackPage, you'll still see reference to the "two call system"—it's alive and well. Generally speaking, independent providers new to the business who don't know better don't screen. How many of them are there as a percentage of the entire provider universe? I wouldn't venture a guess. But, there are new girls coming into the hobby every day. And there are thousands of ads on those sites. Plus, don't forget there are tons of informal referrals—providers who refer their clients to their provider friends. Usually, there's no screening required for those types of hook ups. And often, those are the best of all.

On those rare occasions when I make the mistake of contacting someone who's not on TER (and it's almost always a mistake), they hardly ever ask. Much less than 30% of the time.

... she did not ask for any references. The session makes for an incredible story due to the venue but also due to the venue I would never repeat. Very odd, but hey, I was there so I went with it.

Sorry, but you still need referrals from non TER members. You don't know if the person is from
law enforcement. If he happens to have no referrals or reviews, red flag. He could be from law enforcement that wants to bust you!

There is always an element of risk we take, but with the amazing selection of options who are well reviewed and the added security of reduced LE liklihood from somene who has met others who have history makes me feel there is no reason to wander beyond TER.
