Am I wrong for getting pissed at people asking dumb 411 questions about providers that are already reviewed?  I understand that some peopple are stumbling on to this site for the first time, but thats why people pay for the service.  Why should I pay for the site and help maintain it if all I have to do is ask a simple 411 question on a reviewed provider.  Help support the site and everybody will win.

Here is a post from a couple of weeks ago, where someone asks for a little 411 on a provider who had 3 pages of very solid reviews.  The Original Poster even says he knows she has great reviews and great pictures, but wants a little help making his decision. I am guessing he is still trying to make up his mind.

Perhaps not, but you should accept that not everyone knows everything like you do. There really are some people that are learning the ropes that, perhaps, you should cut some slack to. You ask why you should pay for the site and help maintain it if all you have to do is ask 411 questions? Well, I would submit, why should I pay for the site and help maintain it if I CAN'T ask some simple 411 questions (which I've done exactly once) on a provider I'm interested in and have repeatedly searched for name and phone number, but didn't find. I'm new to the hobby, and I've read posts, FAQ's and reviews til my eyes bled but believe it or not, I still don't know everything. I'm deeply sorry that I can't attain instant veteran status in a couple of weeks.

I realize that you must have been the exception to this, and your first 5 posts in your first two years were 411 calls that you, most assuredly, researched relentlessly and tirelessly before even considering asking for help. Since you would never dream of pissing off people by asking dumb 411 questions.

It's not like I asked for someone to write a review for me. A reply with NO message at all and a link to the reviews that I couldn't find (I know...you've already told me I'm an Internet retard), would have been all I was after. Is that too much to ask for? Someone was kind enough to point me in the right direction, but someone else actually took time out of their day just so they could belittle and berate me as well...oh wait, that was you. Thanks for that.

Maybe a pre-prepared response could be given to those who may be new to the site when they ask these questions. An example of this would be like:

"Hello _____, welcome to TER! The provider you are asking about may already have reviews. To find this info, follow these steps:
1. click on the "reviews" tab at the top of the page
2. click "search reviews", which can be found on the upper left corner of the page
3. enter info relevent to the provider you are inquiring about in the boxes provided

etc,...."

Maybe this prepared response can go on to explain what VIP offers vs basic membership, etc...

A courteous response such as this to the 411 questions sounds a lot better than those "learn how to use the fucking search engine!" responses that make whoever says stuff like that sound like a douchebag.

I'm never on here enough to actually be the guy who gives the prepared response to those asking for 411 info, so if anyone else wants to do it go right ahead.

Or not. It doesn't matter to me...I just thought I'd throw this suggestion out there.

You know, after digging around a little, I should actually be a little flattered. Of ALL 18 posts this guy has made over the last 3 years, he comes out of hiding after 3 months of silence to use 2 of them up slammin' little ol' me. That's over 11% of ALL of his posts in the last THREE years used up just to attack me. I feel special. Truly I do.

You suggest that people will not become paying members of TER if they receive courteous and helpful responses to their requests for information. In other words, the only way to encourage people to become members of the community is to belittle and mock anyone who is new, uncertain, and uninformed. Did I get that right?

Huh! I didn't see that one coming.

Educate new people on the techniques of finding info....don't belittle them!

This board is for everyone, not just for you and a few others who think they own it.

How sad.

But hey why be polite when you can be rude.

there are more 411 posts on this board than any other?

Not sure what that means, but there it is.

I am a "newbie" and have done one 411 post on a girl I researched and found no information on. I was very happy when I got a couple nice responses giving me the information I needed. It turns out she had never been reviewed before but the poster who replied had seen her once.

I just asked for more information today in a post to try to decide between a couple of women that both have excellent reviews.

I must say that if I decided to start partaking in this hobbie more often, the nice and helpful responses that I get from people make a WAY better sales pitch to become a VIP member than the rude posts that put the newbies down.

I ask you, who in their right mind would want to join (and pay for) anything where they got put down and made fun of?

Please continue helping out all of us that are new to the hobby. Who knows? Maybe we'll be able to answer a question or help you out in the future.
