Walk this way

I will be travelling next week and have set up an appointment at my hotel.  My companion's assistant asked me to text "elevator instructions" the day of our appointment.  As of right now, I'm not sure if you need a card key to get to my floor.  I will be at a conference where lots of people know me so an obvious meeting in the lobby with a strikingly beautiful woman and then heading off the the elevator may not be the most discreet way to go.  Has anyone ever been asked for "elevator instructions" and how did you handle it?  Thanks!

I have not, but I have received instructions before. They were very helpful in finding the elevator so as I looked like I belonged there and was just not walking around searching for the elevator. So maybe they are asking for directions to the elevator from the lobby.

providers to be the ones giving directions to the elevator and/or how to get the room. The assistant is asking to determine if the provider will have unrestricted access to the elevator/room or if a key card is necessary. If a key card is necessary, then you need to figure out the POA. If I were you, I'd go with something like:

I'll be standing outside the hotel front entrance wearing (insert that) and I'll be (insert some action).
Once you see me, feel free to walk past me and softly say hello and head toward the elevator on the (insert direction) of the lobby
I'll follow a few feet back and get on the same elevator as you

If the provider is "face out" this will be relatively easy... if not, you may need to provide a bit more direction.

You can follow someone discreetly (or discretely -- both words apply.)  You don't have to be on her ass like Cary Grant.

where the elevator is so they don't look lost walking in.  Example, come in front entrance, go left at desk, then right, elevator is on the right.  I've also had these type meets where there were many people around the hotel that knew me and a key was required to get up the elevator.  Some hotels now require key to get in the main entrance.  Three methods I've used, 1. meet in a discreet place away from the main lobby (parking garage, service, side or back entrance), she follows me (or I follow her) to the elevator at a distance.  2. Meet in a discreet place, I pass her a room key-card (ask for more than one) and she follows at a distance.  3. Leave a keycard somewhere you can give her directions to easily find it, she comes up.  I've had ladies leave me keys before as well.  If giving out a key make sure you get it back.
