Why don't providers seem to be okay with an email or text message? Trying to keep my activities under the radar, sometimes - a quick text message is both safe and convenient.
We use a call-forwarding service. This allows us to give out a bogus number and it forwards to our real phone number. Unfortunately, this service does not allow text messaging.
In my opinion If you email first letting that person know that you will be texting them, I think that you should fine.
BUT for me if you text the first time I tend to ignore those texts because I think it's someone who is wasting my time. Just like someone who calls from a private number and won't give me a call back number. To me that person is not serious about setting up an appt.
I love getting hot texts from my ATF every once in a while.
Also, like Anya said, quick updates and ETAs are fine with me.
But on the whole, I don't respond to 99% of texts. Especially the ones at midnight when I am laying in bed cozy with my cats and a cup of tea!
My "favorite" text I've ever gotten:
"waz up i got a brand new x box and 40 bux for u holla"
(Gosh, an XBox? For me?? Really??!)
Fill out the contact form, email (I'm very fond of email), or call during "business" hours (i.e., not at bar close). You have a much better chance of connecting that way.
Well said Sophie. Because of that, I've had to re-consider having my phone number on my profile. With phone numbers that I don't recognize.....I think...who the "f" is this?!?!? I get P.O.'d when those texts come in after I've gone to bed.
I'm not a big texter, don't have the phone set up for it and agree with Sophie, when it comes to new never met friends. When a gentleman calls, I really like an introduction, and a little bit about themselves as well as any references they can provide me with ways to get a hold of them. I am pretty easy going, but its frustrating to have someone call or text and just say, where are you located? or are you available? when they have not even told me who is calling. I am happy to hear from you, but introduce yourself and don;t be shy! for your safety and mine sweethearts!! xxxoo J.
Or so a little birdie told me; that sending texts is the preferred M.O. of LE.
SHE texted me first, so I thought, ok, I'll text her back, then she text back and then I did and then she did and...you get the point. Then she finally calls and says, are you a cop? Because only a cop texts that much, that's how they do. So... there you have it.
I'd like to say a big "THANK YOU!!!" - especially to the providers that provided me with some real insights I hadn't really thought of before. I will be much more aware of my preference for texting now in relation to the hobby.
