I have not read all the posts, but I know there has been a lot of talk about MGC and the boys in blue. Do not blame MNHobbiest or Misty. They posted based on my information. They were/are just trying to help!
I need to leave out many details, but here is what I know: A very close friend of mine (who has never posted on any board) has seen a MGC girl both before and after their trouble. His wife called him at the office EXTREMELY upset saying she had just received a phone call saying that he was just with ______, who is a prost____ that was formerly with MGC! They did not identify who they were. They said they had been to his office twice and he was not there. At the time that this was supposed to take place he was not with her, he was at lunch with me. However had he called the day before....I think you can guess where he was. His wife called my wife. He called me right after. Obviously we both assumed that it was LE. We still don't know that it wasn't LE, but after other info and conversations that I won't get in to here, we no longer think it was LE.
The former MGC girl is aware of this. I told only a couple people about this. Was I scared shittless? You bet I was. Was I trying to hurt or harm anyone by telling them this? Of course not!! Was MNhobbiest or Misty trying to hurt people or spread rumors? Of course not!!!! IF SOMEONE THINKS THERE IS A REAL THREAT OUT THERE, DON'T YOU WANT TO BE WARNED ANY MORE???? THINK ABOUT IT!!!!! We stuck our neck out to help warn what we believed to be a real threat!!
I am now retiring from this hobby. It just isn't worth it. If you want to blame someone for the latest scare, BLAME ME!! I hope you never have to go through what I have been throught and have been going through for the last week. I can't even eat or sleep. Quit fighting and work together.

Thanks for the info Duke. I'm very sorry to hear of your friend's situation and of your pending retirement. I hope its more of a hiatus than outright retirement. But you need to do what you need to do.
I didn;t see a lot of freneticism from many people over MNHobbyist's warning. True there were some responses looking for more information related to the post - of which when none is forthcoming from a poster of suspicious origin, then it makes the post less credible and a bit more suspicious.
But I really didn't see a lot of noise over the warning. I believe people will listen to such warnings and would prefer them, but more than that - people look for information and what I saw - and heard - was a lot of fireworks with no information. I believe a responsible poster has to provide more than just a "Chicken Little" routine in order to help the people they are warning. Secondly, I don;t believe a responsible poster should hide behind an alias when in fact they should use the persona upon which they have built their presence in the first place. That places the content of the post at risk since it could be anyone posting - including LE.
Again, I am very sorry to hear of the misfortune of your friend and of your incident. Good luck to you in the future.

I think we all recall TBD posting over on his Board about the MGC situation. He posted an unsubstantiated rumor about client lists, one that I believe we now know to be false, and followed it up with what was probably a complete fabrication about STD's, which as far as I know is also dead wrong. He did all this with clear delight at MGC's bad luck. This was a "felony" - I mean on his part, not MGC's
Now, we have you and MNHobbyist and Misty posting about an actual event, interpreting it as best you could at the time, and trying to warn folks about potential consequences. Nora chimes in with a link to a very useful resource on the WWW. Was there some needless panic gnerated? Sure. Was there some inaccuracy in what was posted? Sure. But the posts were honest and had good intent, I think. This was at worst a "misdemeanor."
I don't think anyone who has posted on this lately has complete / perfect information, but I also don't see it as a case of ill will, either. I hope it wasn't anyway, and I hope we can just move on. The a**holes in LE will be with us always, I fear, as will bullies like TBD. We can choose to support ourselves despite them, or we can sink to their level. I vote for the former.
And Duke, even though it would mean more time with the Ladies for me, I hope you don't mean it about retiring. But if you do, I wish you well, and hope you will grace this Board with a bon mot or two every so often.

Duke what you did is what you felt was right at the time, and I am sure you didnt mean to do anything other than tell us the facts as you knew them at the time. I for one respect the fact you had the balls to come to this forum and tell your side, that says alot about you, and what a class act you are. There are a lot of attached men who utilize the same providers and we are grateful for this type of info. We all call this a hobby, but attached guys like us, we all are dancing with alligators when you think about it, its real exciting but it only takes one good bite to get hurt.
I can understand your retirement, with whats been going on with you for the past few days, I am sure it is max stress. I wish you nothing but clear skys from now on.
Okay, I'm glad that it wasn't an LE action, or at least it appears not to be-- but then the question arises as to WHO made the call to his wife? And why?
+ Someone has the information that he was visiting that lady.
+ Someone knows where his office is.
+ Someone has his home phone number.
If it's not LE, then who is it, and why are they doing this?

On the other note, I agree with the others. You provided substantial information about an event that we all have a heightened awareness about. I'd rather know than not know.

I have been reading up on this board today... and never realized that you had been thru some things.
Sorry Sweetheart... I am not going to blame anyone for anything. We all know what the risks are when your in this... and if you don't then you should! Please keep in touch sweetie... you've always been a sweet dear friend to me... I have been working and handling family issues for the last month or so now. *sigh* Now that things are lightening up at my end... I finally have the chance to do some reading.

Alright, I'm entirely new to TER and, frankly, the entire notion of this hobby, so please bear with me... Lots of these message board postings are in reference to some unfortunate recent events, but I can't for the life of me piece together the background. Can somebody just provide a brief synopsis of events. And what are MGC, TBD, and MNhobbiest? I have guesses, but I would like to vigorously avoid jumping to false assumptions.
I would sincerely appreciate anybody who can shed some light on these questions.
