Every so often I re-visit Ireland via Earth cam…a place I have a love affair with and have travled to a few times.  If you peek in right now you'll see revelers in front of the Temple bar in Dublin.  Sort of fun to watch from over three thousand miles away!

Did you know that until 1970 pubs in Ireland were prohibited from selling booze on St.Patrick"s Day. It was considered to be a religious holiday.

It wasn't really huge deal in Ireland until the 1990's (tourism $).  In the United States, the holiday was a way for ex-pats to recognize their heritage just as Mexicans can with Cinco de Mayo.

Of course both holidays (as well as New Years Eve) are just an excuse for people to get stupid ass drunk and threaten any creature anywhere near the roadway.
