My GF just told me that she wants (needs) to have sex 5-7 times a week. Since this amount used to take almost a year to accomplish with my wife, is this (5-7) excessive? I have no reference. This is a serious question.

Well, since I got into the hobby almost a year ago, my sex-drive has kicked into over-drive and is now completely out of control.  If I had a GF that wanted it 5-7 times I week I'd give it to her at least that much if not more.

See if you can keep up with her...if not, she's disappointed and moving on.

She has made it very clear that less than that will not work for her. She loves me and hopes I understand that she will satisfy her needs and mine, if necessary. She never will refuse me any request and that is a promise. I just have to be willing to do it whenever and where ever she wants. Despite being an awful hypocrite recently, I prefer a monogamous relationship. She assures me I will never be turned down, but there will be times I cannot do it and she wants to phone a friend on her own.

Wow! It reminds me of a high school girlfriend who was insatiable and would want to do it 3 to 5 times per session. Love it and live it while you can. One of you will burn out or tire of it eventually. It must suck to be you!  

I think most people want to be as intimate as possible as often as possible when they are in a new relationship.  Or, maybe she senses you are seeing other ladies (i.e. providers)?   Jealousy or an attempt to "keep you" could be driving this need.     Have you been paying her extra attention and making her feel extra special?  Maybe she just likes sex and being sexual?

Yes, it is new hence the confusion on my part and the statement on hers. She is unaware of my hobbying which has stopped since I met her. She is that sexual. She wants me and knows I won't stay if I am not her only one. I truly want a GF not just fuck buddy.

This is quite common in the "honeymoon" stage of a relationship. Over time once she is settled in to the relationship your sex life together will quiet down as you discover other things in common to enjoy together. That's not a bad thing BTW. Just be prepared for that.  

Everything will change when she gets tired of washing the sheets all of the time!

Honestly, I think it is an unfair over-generalization that all women only want a lot of sex at first and then it tapers off.  Yes, this is "most often" the case.  But over the course of my life I have known a number of women who were deeply sexual, intensely libidinous, and had an honest, sincere desire to live very sexual lives.  There really are women out there who feel happier, more balanced, and "more whole" if there are sexual elements baked into pretty much every day, and often more than once over the course of a day
