Re: Hang ups...

I had my eye on the cutie in this ad -- completely my "type."  Finding myself with some free time this afternoon, I called her up and found her rate and location to be just about perfect.

Then I asked her when she was available, and she gave me a time that was a bit later than I was hoping for, and I told her as much.  Very nicely, I thought...but she wouldn't know, because she hung up on me in mid-sentence!

I'm wondering if anyone else has had this kind of experience with her, or if it may have been a bad day on her part.  Am I wrong in thinking that this type of rudeness on the phone will only be magnified in person?

Well, I can't speak for every other provider, but I personally hang up whenever something sounds fishy, someone is rude to me or asks explicit questions, or I just don't feel 100% right about the call. It's kind of our prerogative as providers to do that. I'm very pleasant in person, but I absolutely don't mince words on the phone. You may have said something that she just wasn't comfortable with - or yes, she could just be having a cranky day. Who knows? Let it go for a day or two and call her back, hope she hasn't blocked your number, apologize profusely for any bad impression you may have given, and try again. Good luck!

Sure you have the right to hang up on someone but I wouldn't exercise that right if I were you.  Being a provider and being a little suspicious doesn't make it any less rude than hanging up on someone in an ordinary conversation.

... but I have said many times, "I'm not going to continue this conversation, I'm hanging up now, goodbye" or something of the sort. I rarely hang up without preface, but I have no problem doing it if someone is speaking to me like an object and not a human being. Those aren't the clients I desire anyway.

I would exercise that right today, tomorrow and anytime I want!!!!!!!

If a provider feels uncomfortable, she should feel ok with exercising her right to hang up. You may feel she is just hanging up on an ordinary conversation. However, she may not feel or know it is an ordinary conversation indeed. The slightest thing might turn her off and cause her to hang up, because the slightest thing might be what gets her in the trouble she is running from (e.g. LE, axe-murderers, etc.).

Welcome to a day in the life of a provider!

I advertised my phone number for two months until I got sick of hanging up on people as a result of not knowing if what they thought was an ordinary conversation (e.g. referring to rates and services, etc.) was indeed just that. I was suspicious of many…and rightly so (especially due to recent events!). If I am ever suspicious I will exercise every and any right I have to use my fingers to hang up.

With all that said, I just got a new phone number, as I do not do well with feeling suspicious. Old friends are welcome to my new number, as you understand my need to be cautious…always. Thank you sweeties.

Xoxo, Gia:)

PS. Honestly, the OP does not know if the reason for the hang up was a jealous boyfriend, low battery, family member walking into the room, coworker walking into the room, etc.

OP: Try her again in a couple of days. It probably was just nothing. Good luck! By the way, she is hot. I hope you have a good time!;)

I personally dislike talking on the phone in the first place.
The top reasons I will hang up on someone is if they ask me a stupid question I already carefuly have written an answer to on my website or if they ask suggestive questions or imply anything remotely sexual "click" is my only polite answer to that.
That's is why I took the time to make a website .
Duh'.
I'm never rude about it to anyone. however, treat people how you'd like to be treated is key with me.
If you swear, yell or threaten me you will get an earfull or an eyefull.
Because sometimes I am still at home and I live with a special needs individual  that squeals a very blood curdling high pitch at random, and I do stress at random. It's not very easy for me to just go outside or in another room to answer a call that is just for general inquiries as to who what when & where.
I have people to do and things to see.

Never the less, good if not excellent customer service skills are an essential in this industry if we want to maximize our earning potential .  Hangups I'm afraid are just a part of it.
I have to agree with trying back in couple days and see what happens I'm sure there's a simple explanation.

and asked her about rates and such without being explicit and sure enough she hung up the phone on me. I wouldn't even get near her.

To me a major issue/question is what is the correct/accectable way to inquire about services and/or rates when that info is not available in the ad or in reviews.  If anyone could shed some light, I would be grateful.

I was able to ask and get answers about both her rate and general location -- I wasn't explicit either (I never am).  This is what I said that prompted the hang-up: "I'm sorry, that's a little later than..." and I was going to say "...I had in mind" but I didn't get that far.

The only thing I can think of, and maybe this is a red flag, is that I was looking to see her on really short notice.

But I admit I don't have the perspective of the other side of the conversation, so it's hard to say.

Still, my point is that I wouldn't have minded being told that I was making her uncomfortable, or that she wasn't going to have this conversation, or...something.  Anything!  But to be just dropped -- that's just rude.

Unless it was a glitch with her phone or a boyfriend or muggle walking in, then that's understandable.  Maybe I'll give her one more try and if it happens again, then say twice is once too many times.

Thanks for the perspective...see my response to TCButtman -- I think I might try again another day to see if it was something like what you described.

By the way, I get that OP means me, but what does it stand for?

should one discuss services & rates. I don't mind being asked what my rate is- (even though its always on my ad) I will not discuss services and rates ever. Imho, services + rates = silver bracelets.

Providers don't like to discuss rates.  If it's not posted on her website (or ad, if she doesn't have a site) then don't see her. Simple.

If you ask about rates, you will likely get hung up on.   We are just trying to stay safe.

I never ask about services (and didn't this time), and I understand that even asking about rates can be sensitive, but I'm wondering how else I would find out how much to bring.  I'm really not trying to be insensitive here and apologize if I am coming across as such...I'm just trying to figure out how this works logistically.

By the way, in this particular case, the provider in question was not at all shy about discussing rates, so I don't think that was the issue.

then you can see that there are no rates on her post so it is a valid question. what's wrong about asking about a rate if it doesn't go associate with a service? at the end we are paying for companionship only, right?

is necessary in many cases. maybe you made her uncomfortable by saying something inappropriate?! many providers hang up if there is something even slightly strange about the individual/conversation.
