Let's say I'm having a affair. What is the best way to get a decent room and not have any paper trails?

They still make you leave a CC number for "incidentals" Can try prepaid credit cards and use an alias.

I use the Walmart money card that can be topped off at any Walmart cashier.  I used a PO box as my address on the card.  I used my business address to register for the PO box.  If you can't get a PO box then you can buy pre-paid cards with fixed amounts on them.  

As for registering for the room, thats a challenge as they typically want to actually see your Drivers License.  I use my Passport instead which does not have an address on it and I then give them a bogus address.  If they insist on the DL, then I tell them its my old address and I insist that they use the address I give them.  However, some of the more modern hotels actually scan the DL.  

If its feasible, try to get the lady to register for the room, but of course she may have the same issues.

Sounds like a good plan but I wonder what info they are scanning off the license and why?  Seems unnecessarily intrusive.

It's probably easier than retyping the address.  just a guess.  Not sure what they can do with fact that you wear corrective lenses.  Not much of a "smoking gun."
