I got vaccinated earlier this year and am easing out of the covid lockdown. I made an arrangement to meet someone I know pre-pandemic.  Asked if she was vac as I set up the appt-no answer.

She smokes (I don't but am not a missionary about it)
She said she had not gotten vaccinated because she "knew of a person who died of that shot."

She went to freshen up.  I left half the fee and a note "No vax, No sex.)

Would be interested in providers' perspectives.

Although I am fully vaccinated, I'm well aware that the vaccine does not stop me from getting COVID. No, all the vaccine does is hinders COVID from being so debilitating that a person ends up in the hospital and/or dies. Although many people are vaccinated, breakthrough infections happen frequently and many of those people can be asymptomatic during that time. So realistically, you are ok but the unvaxxed person is at greater risk in these close contact scenarios.

No one is under any sort of obligation to tell you their vaccination status. But you could have made some different choices to receive a better outcome. That said when it comes to you leaving, your body, your choice.

And while you did leave at least half the rate which is more than *most* people would have done based on some of the things I've read here/ heard about clients from here you SHOULD have left the FULL rate since she did set aside an hour or so (plus more to prep) of her time,

Editor's Note in response to quite a terse message from a TER client user...
I was multitasking typing my original response ad need to expand upon my initial answer fully. It is easy for those of us not involved in the situation to sit here with 20/20 hindsight and pass judgement on both parties but how often have we looked back on a situation and thought, "should've, could've, would've". Although I would argue the client is more at fault here, anyone could argue both sides of this. "He could have done "x". She could have at least responded that she wasn't comfortable answering the question." And it goes on and on. What this really sounds like it a lot of miscommunication from both parties.

… but I can’t wait to see what any who respond have to say about this.

I have my opinion, but it appears you’re not interested in it and I’m pretty sure you won’t like it.

Interesting, I am not aware of anyone dying from the vaccine but well aware of many dying from covid. The vaccine is 95% effective in stopping covid and I like those odds. Perhaps someone could refer an article from a responsible source (not social media) regarding deaths from the covid vaccine.

And were you going to take the providers word if she said yes, even if she hadn't gotten it? Were you going to ask for her CDC card? I would recommend staying away from hobby as number of delta cases are rising.

The choice of getting vax should be individuals and not forced. A vikings assistant coach got fired cause he refused to take the vax.. That's messed up and vikings probabaly looking for a lawsuit. Personally, i was hobbying throughout the pandemic. Didn't catch the virus. But I did get the vax when it was available. Got hella sick for few days. But was back to normal in a few days and still hobbying.

Provider wrote to me. As noted, we had met several times in the pre-Covid time. (She is not on this board.)
She says she is getting first shot today and we are both interested in meeting after she completes series.

“More than 339 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered in the United States from December 14, 2020, through July 19, 2021. During this time, VAERS received 6,207 reports of death (0.0018%) among people who received a COVID-19 vaccine. FDA requires healthcare providers to report any death after COVID-19 vaccination to VAERS, even if it’s unclear whether the vaccine was the cause. Reports of adverse events to VAERS following vaccination, including deaths, do not necessarily mean that a vaccine caused a health problem. A review of available clinical information, including death certificates, autopsy, and medical records, has not established a causal link to COVID-19 vaccines. However, recent reports indicate a plausible causal relationship between the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine and TTS, a rare and serious adverse event—blood clots with low platelets—which has caused deaths.”
http://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/safety/adverse-events.html

Another source says that three deaths in the USA might be attributable to blood clotting that occurred after taking the J&J vaccine:
http://covid-101.org/science/how-many-people-have-died-from-the-vaccine-in-the-u-s/

But there’s been over 600,000 deaths from COVID-19 in the USA.

Based on those odds, I’ll take my chances with the vaccine (Pfizer for me) vs. COVID-19.

I would still recommend you to take caution and avoid hobbling for the time being. Reports say that large number of vaccinated people are catching the Delta variant, which is supposed to be more deadly then last summers variant. Israel, the country with the most vaccinated people based on population percentage, is saying the Pfizer vaccine is only 39% effective against the Delta variant, a big drop from 95%. This shows the vaccine is no guarantee against the Delta variant. Especially if you are in the high risk group. So best to keep the little head indoors. If you do end up seeing the provider, remember she is fully vaccinated two weeks after her second shot. Good Luck. Stay Safe.

I have been fully vaccinated since April with no adverse effects other than I got really tired for a couple days after each shot.  I would very much prefer my clients to be vaccinated, although I don't know that I can force anyone to follow along with that.  I do the very best I can to avoid crowds since I am around several high risk people in my daily life, and I don't care to take a lot of chances to protect those around me.  It's the same I am big on condom use in my personal life - I don't want to take risks that can be passed along to others in any form of what I do.

I watch the European CDC and UK sources in order to try and get data (a little) less contaminated by politics.

Infection rates are through the roof again in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels -- similar to their January levels.
However, hospitalizations are only 5% of what they were back then.
In London 93% of those requiring hospitalization were unvaccinated.
Hospitals are returning to normal.
The UK population is almost 88% first dose vaccinated.
In Springfield Missouri on the other hand, 2 hospitals are within a couple of days of running out of medical staff because of exhaustion (according to Missouri Public Radio) as a result of the surge in cases.

That was one report out of Israel and similar reports from other countries, including the U.S., show the vaccines as still being very effective against the Delta variant although the effectiveness is down.  So, the Israeli report appears to be an outlier.  In any event the vast majority of new cases are coming from unvaccinated people and that percentage goes up if you look at people who were hospitalized and is even high when you look at deaths.  So, if you want to give yourself the best chance of not getting COVID or at worst getting a mild case, get vaccinated.

I agree he should have left the full donation. If he was that worried about it he should have found out before hand, and probably shouldn't be doing this anyways. The shot isn't a cure.
