Recently I visited a provider in MN, a very nice visit by the way, with one of your higher rated ladies. That is the good news, yesterday I received an email from her that looked like it went out to maybe 20 or so others besides me. Some of the addresses looked like hobby and some looked like regular addresses with names that could be REAL names. Another example of ladies not takins privacy as seious as they should.

I think I got this email as well with a lot of other email addresses. But I don't think there is real name or email there.

This is a good lesson for us: No one can be too careful.

That for mistakes like this are possible. One should never use there real name or email address in this hobby.  Takes no more than a half a minute to create a new email address. What happens if a provider were to be compromised and you have a real name out there.  This little mistake is nothing compared to one could have been made. I sure a lesson was learned. A little funny if you ask me, for I got the same email. Keep safe and have fun.

last week or so I got a call on my hobby phone from a male caller who identified himself as federal LE... he identified himself as "So and So" with DEA..., i said "sorry, who is this?" and he repeated the greeting. I responded "well, I doubt if you are who you say you are, but go on". The call went dead.

I am certain this particular provider meant no harm and she even apologized in a follow up email!

The others gave great advice........please keep a separate email for the hobby!!    I always cringe when
I get one from someones professional/work email!    In my experience, work emails can be monitored by the employer!!   YIKES!!!!

I'm certainly not going to defend someone who sends out emails and doesn't use the BCC option but at the same time it wouldn't be a problem if guys got a hobby only web-based email account (that means no work account, no account through your cable or phone provider, etc.) and made sure they didn't associate their real name with it at all.

This is the route that I took quite some time ago.

I've had situations where my clients don't use them and trust me, without the error of anyone it can turn into a bad situation.

ALWAYS have a hobby address.  I have 2.  One for my favorite friends and one for new friends.  Hey, why not?  They are cheap and FREE!  Not a common word in the hobby :P

Safety to us all,

Is not to keep an email address for too long. Just in case. Even if it an anonymous one. You can never be too careful... Just say'n..

I hate to burst your bubble but a fake email address won't hardly slow down any real LE agency.  The electronic paper trail is good enough to lead them to your name and your doorstep.

About all its good for is so some weirdo off the streets doesn't try to find you.  Which in its self isn't so bad.

Even here at TER they track the IP address of your posts and membership.  It is easy pickings for LE to know who you really are if you are under investigation.

While I'm sure it's not perfect, you can use VPN's (HideMyAss, HideMyNet, Anonymizer) to mask your IP. If you attach to the VPN before accessing your email or TER, you have another layer of anonymity.

I suspect that we got the same email.  She knows it was a dumb thing to do and was truly apologetic about it.  Considering that she is certainly not the type to do anything malicious, I am not going to hold it against her and most guys will have used a hobby-only address, if they are smart. However, it is certainly possible that if any did not that it might have outed someone to a colleague or relative and that is why she should not have done it.
