I'm so old that the curfew rule was when the town crier had to light a lantern to make his rounds.

Curfew laws differ and exceptions apply for school activities, errands under supervision of guardian, work permits ect. But followed the law in our area. It was illegal for 14 and under to be on street after 9 pm and under 18 it was it was a violation of the law if not home by 10 on school nights Sunday - Thursday but midnight on Friday and Saturday.
The law applied if the minor was in any public place after 10 pm including walking, biking or driving a vehicle.
So guess both you and your father would have been in jail here with a 10:30 curfew

IMM, what state/city are you talking about with those curfew laws?
I can't see those being enforced in the US nowadays but then we are generally a country without many laws nor the means to enforce them if we did.

In reality we are a country of many many laws. A lot of the laws on the books get overlooked or go unenforced for one reason or another. I remember hearing 20+ years ago some state still had law on the books about motor vehicles required to yield to horse drawn carriages in some sort of an unorthodox manner so as not to spook the horses ect.

Yes, at one time the State of Kentucky. had a law on the books, that forbid motorists from allowing
