Same Reasons hobbyists ask us the same question...i try not to ask about that anymore so I don't ruin the mood. But I think we all have curiosities...and at times are just making small talk. If you are ever uncomfortable with a topic let the provider know. Hope That helps.

I rarely ask my friends in bed about their lives.
Not that I don't care, but I don't need to know.

Recently, I just found out a regular of mine (of 2 years) has two kids and an ex wife; something I never knew...WHOA!! I never ask, but I always listen.
If someone wants to share information about themselves that is cool too; I never tell them to stop.

The reason I do not ask gentlemen about their personal life is in hopes they respect me and do not ask about my personal life.

I am a fantasy maker, an escape; talking about one's personal life detracts from the moment being a suspension of disbelief.

But, then again, I don't engage in the "not fooling anyone" attempt at deception by taking off my ring.  It never occurred to me that the provider would care whether I was married or not.

However, most tell me anyway.  It's just conversation and some guys need to talk about troubles at home, etc.   Small talk, whatever the topic, is an icebreaker and great way to gage temperament and how you are going to be able to interact with someone on a more intimate level.

I would rather see a Man who is in his late 40's and Married, it is just another security measure for me.
When together it is a world apart our real lives but when He leaves, he is then focused on his life and not thinking of me, well maybe he has a smile and a jaunty step but he has a life that he wants to protect just as I do mine.
