1. I use a VPN service and my hobby browser is actually self contained on an encrypted micro-sd card.
2. Never use an iphone/android device. Too much info is held by the device and the carriers. Purchase a non-contract phone with cash and purchase refills again with cash. There is nothing to link you to your phone that way.

Looking for tips on privacy / security on hobby electronics

1) How often do you clean your computer and what specific programs do you use
2) What specific apps do you use to clean iPhone and Andriod phone

For general pc security, Eset security suite is good.  

I run all browsing on pc, tablet, and smartphone in incognito or private browsing. Then you don't need need to clean history, cache,  cookies etc...I know technically google can still track what u do, but I'm less concerned about big brother and more with people in my civie life. Password protect your smartphone, and as much as u can use mini sd cards to save pertinent hobby data. In a pinch u can pop it out and destroy it.
