I wish I had a dollar for every LE and civic leader that has declared his city free of prostitution!

I do remember seeing ads that would highlight Roseville as the incall location with pics of asians or other girls that were clearly not represented of who was posting the ad.  They seemed TGTBT and with this story it only confirms it.  I found the following line interesting: "People see prostitution as a victimless crime, but they don't see the assault or stealing that also goes on."  Yeah, that happens because there isn't equal protection under the law....Where does an escort turn to if she's raped?  Where does a john turn to if he's robbed?

The Roseville police chief makes this announcement like it is some big deal.  But, here are some real numbers.

First, He said it was a year long effort.  That means one or more police department  staff spent a year on this project.  And, what have they to show for it.  Forty One arrests in A YEAR.  Less than one a week.  They probably give out more than 40 traffic tickets EVERY DAY.  According to the FBI, Roseville had over 1200 thefts, and 150 burglaries last year.  And, who got arrested in a YEAR long effort?  41 small time hookers.

Second, The chief says that there were 10-15 escort ads every day.  If that is the case, and each or those ads accounted for just one escort/john encounter, that would be 3500 to 5000 incidents a year.  And, again, only 41 arrests.     All that time, expense and effort, and the success rate is probably less than one in one hundred.  Now that is what I call Successful Law enforcement.

I wouldn't say the Chief has bragging rights.

... they took out at least one advertiser that intended to rob her clients rather than provide service. Getting robbed wouldn't be the type of "getting screwed" that I'm into.

and i question the truthfullness of that. i think it is le bs to scare guys and try and justify the stupid worthless sting that they had going. do u really think that any low life that wud actually do that wud open her mouth and volunteer that info to Roseville Police?? I think not she wud know to keep her lips zipped. it is ingratiating the way le talks down to us like we r all idiots and they are wonderful and have just done something extra special ughhhh!I am surprised they didn't pull out the tired old "we just cut back on human trafficing", which granted when it really occurs is deplorable.

"It's never going to completely go away," Brake admitted. "If it completely goes away some of us in law enforcement are going to be out of a job!"

Are you admitting that you are so specialized (or useless) that if there weren't any providers operating in your town your department would have no use for you?

Could be BS but there have been a number of recent reviews that warned of robberies.

The on-line escorts seem to be getting the message. "There used to be typically 10 to 15 posts a day, just for the city of Roseville," Brake siad. "And now it's lucky if there's two a week."

But Roseville doesn't think its efforts are driving prostitutes to neighboring communities. Police believe they're driving many of them out of business.
1)  No, it just means they aren't putting in their ads that they will be in Roseville, which was always a stupid thing to do anyway because it predictably led to this LE response.  They will be back

2)  It is complete BS that escorts are leaving this business because of this and I don't believe for a moment that the cops believe this either.

That would involve hard work catching real and possibly violent criminals.
