Am I the only one who depletes their gas tank before filling up? There have been quite a few times when I was running on fumes wondering if I would make it the gas station in time, coasting whenever possible. I will try not to do that when the snow arrives, lol.

Remember 1987?  I think that was the year my in-laws gave us cross country skis for Christmas.  In Minneapolis there were only two days all winter that enough snow fell to use them.  The next day it melted.  This winter seems to be shaping up the same way.  Normally I'd complain but after last winter I don't mind so much.  (Knock wood)

Remember the years when snow piles were so high that people stuck day-glo orange ping pong balls on the end of the radio antenna on their cars because it was the only thing other drivers could see approaching an intersection?  A good idea whose time has past.  Cars all have retractable antennas now, so the ping pong balls won't stay on.  

Remember the BBC version of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy?  After watching the new movie we dug out the old VHS tape we recorded off the TV and watched the whole six hours.  I was amazed how a fine actor like Gary Oldman has flat out copied the vocal cadence and mannerisms of George Smiley as played by Alec Guinness.  George Smiley is and will always be the character Alec Guinness created from John Le Carre's novels.  

Remember the days when a kid looking down at his or her lap while driving was most likely rolling a joint rather than texting?  Good times.  

It's stupid to romanticize the past, but sort of comforting.  

the new fuel pump for my truck was $750. all together it was a $1200 bill. jus sayin

Wow....I'm very guilty of letting my tank get down to a notch or two....but  at the price of that fuel pump I could fill up about 30 times... Duly noted

Gas:  I generally let the tank get really low because I hate going to the gas station.  Haven't burned up the pump yet.

Snow: Remember when the snow banks looked like mountains or you felt you were in a canyon walking down the street.  But, of course I was a lot shorter then too.

Looking down:  I still do it, but because I dropped a french fry between my legs!

Driving:  Have you noticed that people don't seem to stop for red lights anymore?

Good point..............you've made me stop doing this.  Used to for the kick out of running as low as I could for as long as I could.  Not smart.

And stop signs - Safety first, but I'm always amused at the looks people give when I just ignore that red arrow or whatever.

The cop at that intersection is going to ticket you!

But what annoys me is at the gas stations when you try to fill your tank up, it cuts me off a good 4 gallons short of a full tank most of the time.  I don't know if it's just my vehicle or what but when I go in to fill my tank up, I want it 100% full, not 80%.

Maybe relate to your sensitive girl (all cars are girls, right?) like sex. A change of depth, tempo, etc. might get her where she wants to be.  And your girl might just be prone to it - as in this older blog post:

I had a new car that did that all the time.  They discovered there was something wrong with the roll-over stop valve in the gas tank such that it would close prematurely.   The whole tank had to be replaced.

I had a new 77 Dodge maxivan with a 42 gallon tank made of plastic.You had to fill very slowly in order for the tank to expand!It took 20 minutes to fill the damn thing. Then I had a new 87 Chevy pickup with dual tanks;one on each side! You can't imagine what a pain in the ass it was to fill up while pulling my boat.

every three weeks or so.  It is usually fairly close to empty by then.
