I don't think that's true all of the time.

Therein lies the problem.  It is true some of the time, so why waste time looking there?

"Well reviewed" provider charges extra four days of room changes to hobbyist.  Also, find out it's not the first time.  Hence "some of the time". Therefore, why waste time on TER "Well Reviewed" providers.

Course not to mention.. This isn't a chicken and egg concept here... One does not become reviewed, much less, "Well Reviewed", without someone TOFTT first.

It all comes down to doing your research, which is true regardless of where she advertises.

Any data source is going to yield a false positive from time to time, e.g.  "Dewey defeats Truman." BP is a bad data source of this activity for two reasons:
1. It contains a very limited number of data points.  Only the information that the poster elects to share.
2. It is used frequently by LE.

I know of several "well reviewed" providers who have ripped off hobbyists, "gosh stud I forgot condoms, can you run down to the lobby and buy some", hobbyist comes back and donation and provider are gone.

In addition, there can be group think in reviews.  I saw a local provider who I would regard as over-rated from both an appearance and performance perspective.

The advantage of TER as an information points is that you have a lot more data points to consider.  I look to both reviews and reviewer history in making a determination of who to see.  I tend to see the same people, so new research is not something I do frequently.

Regarding your chicken and egg issue, prior to firing my former ATF she would occasionally recommend newer providers for me to see and a means of helping them establish themselves.  Some other providers have made similar offers.  Not unlike a apprenticeship whereby the new gal gets introduced to safe guys for her first experiences.  Other providers have asked for a doubles session with a newbie gal.

TOFTT is neither smart nor necessary

I completely agree with Vorlon.  With BP it's all about weeding through the crap to find a jewel.  The research can take a while longer but in the end it can pay off if you know what you are doing.  I wouldn't necessarily suggest playing russian roulette on BP for anyone new to the hobby but if you know what you are doing it's not a big deal.  Every provider starts somewhere and often it's on BP.  I'm as skeptical of a new provider that pops in on this board to introduce herself from out of nowhere, no reviews, no ads on BP, and starts to throw up TER ads.  I think it's less about the venue where you see the ad and more about being diligent on your research.

Unfortunately!

It is great to get attention but doesn't usually have very quality clientele (notice I say doesn't usually*) --- Even if you don't always find your girls on BP, you look don't you? :) Sometimes you find diamonds in the rough! Otherwise look on the TER ad board for your more polished gems ;) If she's on both, you should know if she's legit! :)
