As some of you may know, I'm temporarily filling in for one of the other moderators on the New York Board, which I usually only look at occasionally.

A hobbyist just put up a post that I thought was interesting and provocative.  He said that a provider had told him she charges $$$ because if she lowered the price point, she would get undesirable clients -- rough, dirty, etc.  Now, while I realize the actual point may be different in this market, I wonder if there's any truth to this?  Providers feel free to use aliases.  Hobbyists -- what's your view?

I ran a special 2 years ago.  Most were great guys, but the few that weren't ruined the fun.      

Most guys are well manicured/clean and have great dental hygene.  

This is a generalization of course.  Guys in the 300 range don't bartor for time and extend the date to get the most for their money.  These things make it hard to relax and have fun.  No-one wants to feel like they're being manipulated.  It's the same feeling gent's get when a provider tries to upsell on the date.  Totally kills the mood.

I feel that a provider's rate should be in direct proportion to the quality of service she provides (i.e. those that get better reviews should be able to charge higher rates). If I see a provider wanting $$$ I look at her reviews and see how hers compare with those who consistantly get "I forgot it was a service". She is mistakenly equating price with whom it attracts. Not all people who can afford the high rates are going to be desirable clients

Price is a topic that will always cause blood pressures to rise and tempers to flare.

There will always be a debate on what is a fair price for the service provided.  I have heard from many providers that price does weed out some undesireables but not all of them.

If you look at the many major markets around price for the same lady and level of service could vary by as much as $$$.  There are a number of local and traveling ladies that could more than charge higher rates based upon their level of service but choose to keep within what that particular areas market will bear.

Providers have the right to charge what they feel is correct.  Hobbyist have the opportunity to sample that service or move on to one that better fits their need for level of service, looks and price.

I think there might be some truth to that the higher rate weeds out those who have less, lets say, respect for the ladies. But to generally say those with more money take better care of them selves or are just nicer people in general is wrong. It might be very simply, for a very nice person the girl would be willing to take less, but for one she would rather not see but is willing to for the higher price. Just like for me I told my ex-husband I wouldn't have sex with him for $$$,000. (since I knew he couldn't come up with that amount anyway) lol

It amazing to me how many times I give a buck or two to a homeless man so he can get a cup of coffee, and come to find out he will have $$ in his pocket and tells me he is saving that for his favorite PROVIDER?

Some providers have told me that they raised their rates
just to cut down on the number of calls they have to respond to, that they only want X number of dates per day or week.

After two years of pretty active hobbying with a variety of providers, I am starting to feel a little burned out (both financially and energy level).  If I found some nice providers who had a convenient incall location, easy to schedule with, and who gave a price break (or longer time) to regulars, then I might settle down, and just see one or two on a regular schedule.

Hummm well there is some truth in that... and yet I agree totally with MDL on this one.. that the provider should be compensated with service and package ... that being said.

I have observed that a provider that askes for $$$ or more has the level usually of higher quality for herself and for those she see's.  So if she is setting a high standard for herself.  She is taking care of herself, she is expecting a higher caliber of client to walk thru her door.  Hence a totally different experience happens to her, plus it means lower volume of clients thru her door.  She is able to give a quality non rushed experience.

Now I know there have been a few Knockouts that make a quick killing ... travel.. pack them in... and then Hey I am out of here.. so you just know to read reviews and use your judgement.

Now on the lower end what happens is not the you see UNDESIRABLES.. it is more that you see the WHOLE spectrum of men.  From still High end and also the ones that have saved their nickles to have a special evening.. I would say that it gives you more of a SURPRISE each time because you just are not sure what will be coming thru the door.. Guy in jeans.. or a guy in a suit.. spontaneous.. could be a lawyer or could be a bus driver.. but I would really like to make it clear that money does not weed out disrespectful, abusive men.

That came home to me one time when I saw a gentleman in a suit at a suite in downtown Minneapolis that flew in from New York.. dropping $$$$$ for less than a hour but like to have a little edge to his session.. abuse was a mild description.. so money and higher price is no guarantee to having a wonderful session and a gentleman..

It still gets down to the basic of what a woman wants to make and how much she wants to value what she is giving.  So if she wants to charge and it works for her then it just takes care of itself..

A number of years ago I was good buddies with a very classy provider who was charging $$$ an hour. As a result of our friendship I saw a number of her clients come and go wearing from jeans to suits to bermuda shorts. Some were cleanly shaven and some had two days stubble. They drove everything from company trucks to foreign luxory sedans. She was in her early thirties and her clients varied from their twenties to their sixties. Their occupations ran from truck-driver to doctor to Salesmanager to air traffic controller to newspaper writer to retired to diamond peddler etc. She was a big hit with all of them as born out by her reviewes and comments on the other board...the Twin Cities TER board didn't exsist at that time. She had an average face with a great body and her sexual techniques were just a little above average but the reason she was so popular was that she made each of her clients feel special giving several of them nicknames which they began to use as their monicker on the other board. Rich or poor, handsome or homely as hell it didn't matter to her as the money was always the same color. The only difference that she noticed was that the wealthy saw her more frequently and for longer periods of time.

I find that the vast majority of men that I see are well groomed and take great pains to present themselves well to me.  

I have seen everything from very wealthy men who book a few days of my time to men that save up just to have enough money to meet me for an hour (that is a HUGE compliment to me.) I find that they are all sweet and very pleasant to be around.  Even the men who don't click with my personality are not bad to be with, it's just not as much fun for either of us.

In the year and a half I have been doing this only one man was openly rude to me and I, being the feisty redhead that I am, basically told him to go F himself.  I realized afterwards that the man was not playing with a full deck and very well could have become dangerous, but that had nothing at all to do with the price point.

As a hobbyest I have found that the ladies that chanrge a little higher are usally (but not always) worth the extra.  
Early in the hobby I tryed a few low priced hobby options (massage parlor, etc.).  I had a few good experiences, but many were less than what I wanted.  
One day in another city I called an escort service. It was a very good time, and I was hooked.  With some exceptions I found the higher the lady charges the better the time.  I don't know why, Maybe she is just better able to schedule her time without dealing with bargan hunters.  I also think its nice to tip a lady for good service.

I have a somewhat different take, perhaps, because I never schedule less than 2 hours, and I greatly prefer 3 or more. I usually see Ladies in the $$$/hr range, but 3 or 4 hours at $$$/hr. would be too expensive for me, so I look for Ladies who discount longer sessions, and typically wind up spending 6 or 7 x $ all tolled for a date.

It makes sense that there should be at least some discount, because Ladies spend a fair amount of "overhead" for each date. It pretty much takes them just as long to answer e-mails, return phone calls, get ready, drive to / from, and clean up after a 1-hour date as a 4-hour date. In many cases, the overhead can be 1 - 2 hours per date when you add it all up. Therefore, a 1-hour date can really take 3 hours of her time, while a 4-hour date would only add up to 6 hours. So a Lady could charge $$$ for 1 hour, but do 6 x $ for 4 hours, and make the same effective hourly rate.

When I used to help Ladies make tours of the TC, if they asked me for advice on rates, I did tell them that $$$ for a one-hour date would eliminate the riff-raff, but I usually tried to persuade them to discount multi-hour dates, partly for my own benefit, of course, but partly because I think it makes good business sense, too.

I do have a theory about Ladies that DON'T give any discount for multi-hour dates, and that is that these Ladies really don't enjoy their private time with the Gents very much, and therefore the private time is the only time that matters, not the e-mailing and phoning amd travelling, etc. That may not be very charitable on my part, but it seems to reflect reality pretty well as I have experienced it

I have been a "hobbyist" for over 30 years now.  IMHO from my perspective, the relationship between price and provider is primarily looks and figure, not performance - IN GENERAL.  The prettier, younger looking, natural looking, GFE looking ones are generally more expensive.  The exceptions are those that offer exceptional extras - BBBJTC, Greek, etc, no matter what the age.  The knockout 10 that will deep throat you to completion can charge whatever she wants.  I do know some that will intentially lower their service standards if a slob with bad hygiene shows up so as to discourage a repeat - at the risk of getting a bad review however.  There are excpetions to all of this, but in general this has been my experience.  

In fact I think there is a level of diminishing returns with the exceptionally gifted ladies who charge upwards of $$$$.  I think they know they are getting the business based solely on their looks and figure they can make just as much money without having to give out as much.  I have ventured into that stratusphere twice, once totally ripped off, and once totally disappointed with a teasing lap dance with quick CBJ to completion.  Never will I spend that much money again.  

Best advice from my experience is find out what the "normal" rate is that is being charged by well reviewed ladies and stick within 50 bucks +/- of that.

If you get references and follow up on them you will find out the qualities (or lack thereof) from the client. At that time you would be able to make a decision as to whether to schedule him or not

I might be a bargain hunter but that doesn’t make me a bottom feeder. I visited a provider in the $$$ class once she was well reviewed on this board first she canceled on me then when I was with her she was more worried about her next appointment than she was about me was totally disappointed. Maybe I was to honest when I told her I don’t usually spend that much but was splurging and she figured she never see me again anyway????

That's an interesting idea.  I was actually thinking of something similar.

Of course the girls would have to do it under an alias, if they wanted to be honest, and wanted our return business.  Total honesty, even if they thought you were really good, will probably have some hurtful truths in it (at least hurtful to those with a fragile ego.)

But I wouldn't mind hearing about how they enjoyed me.  I try to "make love" with my providers, as much as I am able, which is why I enjoy a true GFE.
