thezee posed the question a few posts down and got me thinking. Is this a hobby or a sport?
I have been very involved in sports and in hobbies and the similarity is astounding. Both can be expensive, competitive, entertaining, exhilarating, frustrating, disappointing, addicting, physically dangerous, and illegal.
Consider the following concepts: Golf: use a stick to put a ball in a hole Hockey: use a stick to put a puck in net Pool :use a stick to put ball in hole Sex: use stick to try to put balls in hole.
Sports that are subjectively judged are distinct from other judged activities such as beauty pageants and bodybuilding shows, because in the former the activity performed is the primary focus of evaluation, rather than the physical attributes of the contestant as in the latter (although "presentation" or "presence" may also be judged in both activities). ( I guess we do both-evaluate the physical attributes and SCORE!!!)
Sports are most often played just for fun or for the simple fact that people need exercise to stay in good physical condition. (who me?????, you talking to me? I must be in it for the fun part. Sometimes it is only my tongue that gets any exercise)
