Apparently there are other cities...some not too far away...that sponsor Meet and Greet functions.  They sound like fun. Are these offered in the Twin Cities area? If so, how does one participate? Can anyone elaborate?

I may have this wrong but a week after the last publicized mtngrt in MN the whole Mn Good Guys fiasco broke out.  I'm not say'n, but, wtf.

I'd be interested to know this, as well.

You've got it bass-ackwards, in my opinion. The problem in June arose from the MN Nice Guys and some, by all accounts, real poor decisions they made. MFP was collateral damage to the MNG bust, because a couple of the MNGs were members of MFP, but I have not heard of any one who was solely a member of MFP getting in trouble for it. I was a member, I was at the M&G and had a good time. Except for a few sleepless nights right after the news broke, nothing has happened.

You'll get lots of opinions on M&Gs. I think the keys are, first, that someone is checking bona fides so only reputable providers and verified hobbyists are allowed to attend. Finding someone willing to do the work is a big stumbling block. And, it still can't guarantee safety, so second, there needs to be a rule that no business is conducted inside the room. If someone wants to make an arrangement, they have to go outside. Or just exchange contact info and wait for another day.

If someone wants to do the work to set that up, and finds a venue that offers reasonable privacy, I'd probably attend. In Vegas it seems like they frequently rent a private residence and hire catering for food and drink, but I'm not sure that would be feasible in Minnesota. The boat trip that someone promoted last summer sounded like a real bad idea to me. I want to be able to leave at my own convenience, especially if things start to get out of hand.

A larger M&G could be done here, they have in the past.

I still attend private/exclusive M&Gs here in Minny and LOVE THEM.
Only difference is our group is small and the faces don't change.
Yet, it is still nice to 'hang' out with like minded people!!

PICK ME, PICK ME, PICK ME!!!

I miss the meet and greets we used to have here. They were legit social mixers with NO illicit sexual activity. Many of my current friendships with ladies and gentlemen alike flourished out of the meet and greets we had here. Unfortunately, now I have to travel to other cities for my social mixer fix.

Having experience with meet and greets in several cities across the county, I am happy to know they can discreetly take place in both private and public venues. I have attended parties at bars/restaurants, private residences and condo resorts. As long as they are legit meet and greets and everyone is accurately screened, they are a lot of fun. They are not the place for people who do not like to socialize, because meeting people is the purpose of the gathering. If you are looking for hanky panky, meet and greets are not the way to go as long as they are indeed legit parties (the only kind I have ever attended).

Personally, I think meet and greets can and will happen here one day. Similar to how some people are just finally coming out from in hiding, people will come around. Everything always comes full circle. And once people do completely get over the hype, we will be able to move on one day. I think that day is sooner than some would believe. Then again, I have always believed we would get our community back and that is why I never stopped posting.

2010 is going to be a great year!!! I hope everyone had a nice start to it!

i attended one that a provider hosted over the summer time and i was super nervous but once i was there i as like -wow- this is freakin hot and excitting i totally wish one was hosted before i lefted mn i would be there for sure in a heart beat i love the idea of knowing the faces behind the names and to my suprise the names dont match the individual huh odd lol

I would love to try a M&G. I feel outside the chat I have no one to confide my finds or issues. I am still fairly new to this and I believe it would give me a chance to meet some of the lovely lady's out there but like it has been mentioned before... I would be hesitant unless it was a safe destination.

There is not a law that says we can't all just meet and socialize anywhere.  I'd be willing to organize something, so if anyone has suggestions or advice, let me know.

I missed the last M&G here, but I've been to several in other cities.  They're fun if you go without the expectation of "getting any" during the evening.

I recall the recent events and I think, as long as it is simply meeting and greeting that we have nothing to fear but fear itself.  I can think of no better way to spend some time than in camaraderie with others who share my first amendment leanings.

With that said, how bout meeting in a local club known to tolerate first amendment speech - a strip club for instance?  I think this might be better attended by those who understand that nothing here untoward is meant, only freedom of expression.

Actually, a joint effort at planning our next meet and greet has been underway for some time. This joint effort is by reputable providers only. Please never attend meet and greets unless you know they are hosted by those who thoroughly screen and stay safe ALWAYS...in addition to knowing how to have a good time!!

REMEMBER: Discretion is key.

I took a look at the M & G Board, man o man people in Vegas seem to have this figured out.  Best of luck GML setting this up - I certainly am interested.

Dumb question here...

but are there usually entrance donations required to attend an event like this?  I'
d like to attend one myself as a first-timer but if it's like some others where there's a $$$$ buy-in that pretty much writes me off.
