Facebook has a creepy way of linking accounts together even if you setup two separate profiles.

They use your IP addresses, email accounts, cookies, web surfing and traffic habits to correlate accounts together.

Even if you enable all the security features in facebook, your hobby profile could become a suggested friend for your real profile and vice verse. Your real profile could become a suggested friend for a provider you have befriended in your hobby profile.

Not worth the risk.

I just finished an article in Wired that says that providers were moving to FB after the crackdown at CL. This was news to me.

Have many guys friended their ATF? Do you ladies keep FB accounts? Do people set up different FB accounts for the hobby?

Thanks so much for your input.  That's a very enlightening observation.  If anything else crosses your mind, feel free to post it.

Friending providers on Facebook can be enlightening.  I've seen one post her HIV test results in her images, and another announce that she had just been released from the "cycle ward" because of a psychotic episode.  You also get to see angry comments from family members who disapprove of their occupations...

I went back and looked at the stats page and there are a few more things that don't seem right.

The charts for "Where The Action Is" seems to skip Backpage, Cityvibe and TER. They list FB as 25% of all referrals, yet no one here uses it.

I'm sure this was cracked out by some 20-something in SF who read one graduate paper some other 20-something. Neither has ever hobbied as they both have no clue.

I can't imagine hooking up FB with the hobby, so I think the author is full of shit.

Facebook keeps appearing in the news with controversies over not respecting its users privacy.  That doesn't go well with hobbying and escorting.

If anyone has paid attention to the news lately. A congressman from NY recently resigned after he responded to a personal ad on CL.

The woman who posted the CL ad tracked the email address that he responded with to his facebook profile.

Should be an example to everyone to be extra careful.

Recently, I discovered a "client" of mine is FB friends with a "friend" of mine:(

I freaked out and blocked the client so he can't link us together!  No harm comes from that...he just can't see my profile...Thank goodness!

I don't want to be outed just as much as you don't!!!
