I saw AVATAR in 3D

I left the movie thinking to myself the central themes of the movie. Here's what I came up with:

1. Everything is a fantasy. Behind everything 'real' in front of us, its simply a fantasy world in which we live to cope with until the day we die.

2. Common social pressures of age and growing up. That regardless of how old we become, if our lifestles do not change, we cannot be categorized with the "grown up" group. In order to do so, we must have all the things grown ups have. A family. The responsiblity for others. Not be indepedant, etc.

3. Companionship. Its better to do everything with a partner. Without one, life is dull, pointless.

Anyone else see this movie?

I don't think I was impressed with the movie. Had a couple laughs.. but that was it.

Princess and the Frog was surprisingly good.  I don't expect a lot out of princess movies and I love how they did the ending of this one.

Lesson Learned:  Life is better with someone else, even if you are a frog :)

Sherlock Holmes, well I'm seeing it this afternoon.  I hope it's good!

I have to say, the special effects (motion capture) is INCREDIBLE! Nothing like this has aver been put on film, truly impressive. The emotions on the CGI characters are damn real. I could really see Sam Worthington/Zoe Saldana in them! Wow! You should see it in 3D, as the film was really made for 3D. I hear the special effects look much better with it (less cartoony).

As for the plot, it was predictable, very preachy about the environment, etc. (I'm a green guy, so it didn't bother me but I imagine it might bother those not into sustainability). The film actually has a lot of emotion given that most of it is CGI.

The dialogue was cheesy at times. The bad guy colonel dude was VERY cheesy, wow.

The action scenes were awesome.

So overall it's a really great action adventure with mind boggling special effects. The Academy is going to have to change how they look at an actor's performance from now on I think. Especially with A Christmas Carol, The Polar Express, Lord of the Rings, etc.

It really makes you believe that there is goodness in people.  I saw it with some friends and didn't know what it was about until about halfway in to it and realized I heard an interview about this movie and the subject.  What was also so coincidental, I know someone who did something very similar.

Am planning on seeing Avatar today and would like to see Up in the Air.
