As the tax deadline approaches, I wonder what providers put on their tax returns for occupation?

Do you guys incorporate or just 1040 Sch. C it?

It is a completely non-erotic question, but thought it would be nice to get an answer.

Most of providers don't declare their provider income or file taxes for it. If they do, it is grossly under reported.

Some actually receive state / federal "safety net" benefits like housing, food, medical and utilities.

This is what is called the black market / underground trade like drug dealing. Very difficult to detect, prosecute and document. It is only when one gets in trouble with the law that it comes to light or the IRS is tipped off and they start sniffing around.

It is a taboo subject with providers, so don't expect any truthful answers if you even get any

I recently received a form from the census bureau requiring me to supply information about my business for an economic census. For reasons unknown to me they sent me a form tailored to "miscellaneous services" and I was happy to know that I could report my business as being in NAICS category 812990 - "Escort Services, Social" (http://www.naics.com/free-code-search/naicsdescription.php?code=812990; SIC http://standard-industrial-classification-sic.findthedata.org/q/21134/980/What-industry-does-the-Standard-Industry-Classification-SIC-Code-72990300-represent) along with the more the 83,000 businesses that report themselves as being in this business category.

It would appear that you can be part of the "declared economy" and many business choose to do so. This is simply one part of our services industry, and it seems to be a growing part (no pun intended).

Anyway ... providers: please don't forget Al Capone's lesson (http://history.howstuffworks.com/history-vs-myth/capone-tax-evasion.htm). Local LE may be a nuisance but you really, really don't want to find yourself in the IRS's scopes

Nobody has to list his occupation on their tax forms.
This is on the form, but it is optional and may be left blank.
What is required is to declare ALL income.
Being paid in cash does not relieve you of the duty to pay taxes on your income.

I believe the Government 'entitlement' to tax our income is technically illegal still...

And I have to disagree with one of the above posters saying that we don't file. I know many of the ladies reading this board file! Those who don't would be those who don't know. When I got into this everyone would say "It wasn't the legalities that brought down Al Capone, it was the tax evasion!"

I have already filed and claimed everything I needed to. Didn't need to put an occupation but I did. :)

I'm not at all surprised you, and likely most other providers, include the income from their provider business on their taxes.  Beyond the ethical issue, there's the danger of an audit and its ramifications if you don't include all income.  e.g., "Let's see, the mortgage and property tax deductions were $X, medical expenses were $Y, etc., and reported income was only $Z??" I wouldn't doubt that the IRS has analytics software that checks such things and spits out exception reports.

There was no hidden agenda in my question. I look at this hobby with a bit of amusement and fun.
The obvious answer for occupation is not good, so what does everyone say? It was meant to be fun.

"Tour Guide" would have been funny. "Relational Therapist"

I had this around, I thought it was funny.

'Chicken farmer

A woman walks into an accountant's office and tells him that she needs to file her taxes.
The accountant says, 'Before we begin, I'll need to ask you a few questions."
He gets her name, address, social security number, etc. and then asks,
'What's your occupation?'
'I'm a Lady of the night,' she says.
The accountant is somewhat taken aback and says, ' Let's try to rephrase that.'
The woman says, 'OK, I'm a high-end call girl'.
'No, that still won't work. Try again.'
They both think for a minute, then the woman says, 'I'm an elite chicken farmer.'
The accountant asks, 'What does chicken farming have to do with being a call girl?'
'Well, I raised a thousand little peckers last year.'
> > > >'Chicken farmer it is.

That was funny.  Personally, it's a discussion board, and if I don't want you to know, I won't respond.  However, I've been a CMT for more than half my life, so that's the obvious answer for me.  I run a legit biz... :D

Not saying the question isn't valid,  I'm saying it's not anyone's concern but my own.  Since they aren't doing my books & all. Sometimes it's best not to read into too much with the hobby.
I find it in poor taste when someone asks me "How many people have you seen today yada & the like.
Good rule of thumb is to not ask a lady something you wouldn't feel comfortable answering yourself.
 Just sayin. Xo, V.

I've also seen entertainer, personal trainer, personal shopper and life coach.

A long-running but now closed brothel did business as the "Psychodrama Institute" and held itself out as a legitimate business where people could live out their fantasies under the supervision of a therapist.  At that time, no license was required to be a "therapist."  The place was in fact listed in the phone book as such.

a question you wouldn't feel comfortable answering yourself like:

Where do you work?

What do you do for a living?

Where do you live?

How much money do you earn?

Are you married or have a girlfriend?

Do you have kids?

What kind of car do you drive?

Can I see your drivers license?

Who have you seen in the hobby?

How much do you pay them?

and yada, yada, yada......

The answer to those questions and more is really nobody's business but mine

That's why it's a duty. i assume you don't fly around everywhere you go and never touch one inch of public property. (Remember, you're the one who said it's illegal.)
