I noticed a discussion on the National board about tipping and thought I'd seek some input here. That discussion, I think, relates mostly to agency ladies, which are less prevalent here, but also, to a lesser extent, to independents.  So far I have always left the "suggested donation" but now I'm wondering if I look cheap!?  The few ladies I've seen have never said anything (in fact they have never even looked at the donation while I'm there which is pretty classy) and have always warmly welcomed me back.  I've stayed away from ladies who advertise with terms like "starting at" and $$$ Minimum).  Honestly, do most of you guys leave more than the suggested amount???  Ladies should feel free to join in too!!

New,  This is one area that will create many responses form one extreme to the other.  Like any any "service" business, tips are always appreciated. Are they given out consistantly or regularly, in my opinion no.  I have given more than required at times to some ladies that have really rocked my world. It is all a personal preference.

Good job on staying away form the "starting at or minimum" ladies,  here you have a much greater chance of getting hit up with tipping.

As always do your homework when deciding on what ladies to see, be it local, independents or travelers.

but do recieve it probably 50% of the time, and I see mostly return clients.  When someone gives me more than the rate I ask, it's always a pleasant surprise.  I never expect it, so I am grateful.  Some men tip some of the time, which is great, too.  Not tipping is also O.K.  I think the rate I charge is sufficient enough, though.  I never think of anyone as "cheap" if they pay the required amount.  It's plenty enough for me

I like to learn a lady's "likes" before we meet. I then generally give an approprate gift card (e.g., Fredericks, Body & Bath Works, Victoria Secret). Would that be considered a tip?

Gift cards are a wonderful gift, and its always a great gesture to bring your date something extra. Often you will reap great rewards in doing so. It is also a reflection of you as a considerate gentlemen, and your date will react in kind.

In the past minneapolis had a reputation of "cheap" men from many of the travelling ladies. Only because MSP was the only market where men as a general rule did not tip.

When I first became a provider I agreed with reputation MSP men had. But in the past year I have received tips/gifts/giftcards from over 70 of my regular client base. And some of them have been 2-3hundred dollars over my suggessted donation listing. And of those tipping in the 2-3 hundred range their generosity has stayed consistent appt after appt. However I would say the average tip is usually between 40-100.

I have taken a more laid back and mostly regulars only approach to the biz, and the generostiy of those I see each month has helped me to maintain the low volume level. I dont think that someone is cheap if they dont tip, but it really warms my heart when they do. What warms my heart even more is when they say your rate isnt enough you should charge more. But I wont charge more because for me its about getting to see wonderful people often vs not so often if my rates were higher. I appreciate the generosity of those I know and hope to never take advantage of anyones generostiy. There was one instance of someone who became more generous than I felt their financial situation would allow. So over time I backed away. I know another provider was busy whispering bad things about me in his ear. But I knew I was doing the socially repsonsible thing in backing away from him. He may have been sad for a time but hopefully he will someday be able to see with clearer vision that it was in his best interests that I distanced myself. That other provider had a different view, and possibly a valid one. Hers was if he wants to spend till he is out of house,home, and job how is that our problem? Besides if he is not spending it on you, he will spend it on someone else. Well I will sleep better knowning that it wasnt me that he spent the "all that he had" on? Yes. You are not cheap if you dont tip, but if you do decide to tip, you will not be forgotten.
