I haven't been down there in a while and because of changes in my life I can't go at night anymore.  What are the typical wait times walking back to the US at around 3 to 4pm on Weds or Thurs?

I came back on good friday about that time and the wait was short.. no more the 1/2hr...

The only times for sure the border crossing will be busy is weekdays from around 4:30 or 5 am until arond 9 am.
And all day Sunday.
Many times in the early mornings from 1-3 am there's no one in line.

All other times, you just never know.
If you're going to TJ frequently, get a pedestrian or vehicle sentri pass. It will take about 3-4 months to get but you can always bypass the long lines.

Depends on the time of day. Anywhere from 10 minutes to frigging 1-1/2 hours. Do not cross back to the US  between 6am-8am and 3pm-7pm to avoid the rush hours. Also, the weekends can get heavy too.
