Anyone have problems getting medicines back into U.S. ? I had a border patrol agent ask me for my prescription(!) last time.  It was during a Code Orange if that matters.......

I used to go to Mexico with a friend who bought diabetic meds.  Sometimes an inspector would give him a hard time and tell him he needed an Rx.  However, after lecturing him they always let him bring his meds back into the US.  I think that as long as you aren't bringing a narcotic or something similar into the US you won't have too many problems--unless you can't stand the lecture.  I believe that an Rx from a Mexican doctor is valid, which shouldn't be hard or expensive to get, in the event you get tired of the lecture.

you can bring up to 90 days supply of meds back if you have the script.  have had no problems with a script from a doctor in mexico.  most of the pharmacies have docs they work with and have been able to see a doc and get a script for $25.

this has all been within the past year

The FDA allows personal importation of a 90 day supply of medications not available in the United States.  Most of what folks are looking for are medications that ARE available in the US.

That said, the issue is really an enforcement decision.  That's where folks are waffling, and therefore the confusion.
