Yikes! The Sunday times story makes TJ seem like a litany of kidnappings and murders. One businessman was kidnapped from the golfing country club that I frequent. The story hints that these crimes are the result of infighting for the drug trade. Anyone know the true story? Is my beloved Adelitas too dangerous to visit?

although I've had concerns that A Beautiful Mind might someday vanish down there.  :)

but it's always been by a hot 20 year old that takes me upstairs and fucks my brains out.

It's the trip TO Adelitas that I wonder about. As mentioned several times on this board, we sometimes forget that TJ is a dangerous town in a 3rd world country. I guess it's all part of the allure.

Let's see. Local cops getting whacked by their corrupt coworkers and/or drug/mafia cartels, and the fact that other "travel" boards advise you to walk along the middle of the sidewalk towards the street so you don't get yanked into alleys... it's still the same game it has been for years. you always take your chances strolling around in TJ, near Adelitas. So go ahead, you still have the same odds you had the last time you went of something bad happening to you.

And yes, TJ is VERY dangerous.
If you're a wimp, stay home!
Even if you aren't a wimp, stay home!

The clubs are way too crowded with Gringos.

I've only been to the Zone a few times on a Friday afternoon and early evening.
Never on a Saturday
I hate crowds.
Even Thursdays can be way too crowded.

I talk to so many guys that are wimps.
They won't go to TJ.
They think that TJ is dirty, smelly and dangerous.
It is.

If you're some fat, out of shape Gringo,
then yes, don't walk on the sidewalks and only in the middle of the street,
but you're more apt to get run over than get mugged.

Walk down the street, shit faced drunk and you'll get mugged for sure.
Otherwise it's relatively safe.

I had a friend that was so freaked out about getting mugged, he took a taxi everywhere.
First time in TJ, he took a taxi from AB to Chicago Club......
What a moron!

Personally I enjoy that kind of danger. Some people climb rock walls, jump from airplanes, race cars... I go poontang hunting on the streets of TJ at 3am, when the wild things come out to play along with the twisted freaks.

Honestly, from getting hustled by the cops AS YOU CROSS INTO MEXICO (that has happened to me) to getting kidnapped by the taxis, to food poisoning by the taco vendors, to getting mugged by the trannies (also experienced it) to getting something slipped into your tequila... yeah, always a fun time.

Just be street smart and you should be okay.

I guess I should have mentioned that I am well aware of the dangers that TJ holds. I have always scoffed at the people that won’t venture across the border because of the supposed “danger”. I have to admit that the prospect of being around while ten guys with automatic weapons kidnap someone is not appealing...but it is not going to happen at Adelitas! I guess I’ll just have to spend my leisure time getting laid instead of taking chances on the links at Club Campestre.

If you think just a little bit with the head above the waist, TJ is fine. Just do not grow beer muscles. Do not piss on the street, get a blowjob in an alley, or flash that roll of cash and you will live to see another say.

Remember Mexico is a poor country and they need American Dollars much more than we need pussy. Any bad press chases away the gringo dollars. They are very protecitve in their own way of their clients.

Nogales had one loudmouth jerk get arrested, and it hurt their business for months. I went there about a week after the initial story and Nogo was dead. TJ is smart enough to learn from Nogo's mistake.

I grew up around the Detroit, Michigan area (in the news they compared the crime rate of TJ to Detroit).  The best information that I could give you is to know your surroundings, just like driving, know who's in front, who's behind, and who's on both sides.  I have lived in TJ now for the past 7 months, don't know any spanish, and am a 6' tall gringo with blue eyes.

As long as you don't go looking for trouble, count your cash, act like a dumbsh*t, or venture down alleys you shouldn't have any problems.

Also, you may not want to shower with the chica while leaving your drivers license laying around in the room, this is very tempting for those wishing to gain citizenship into the U.S.

I have met some of the nicest people in TJ as well, take the media as you will, just remember though the media is out to sell themselves anyway that they can.

I was at Ad last Sat. when 7 armed to the teath agents came through and did a weapons search. I'm sure it could be a place for some unsavory characters to hang, BUT. Life is short, enjoy when and where you can, are able.
