If my memory is correct, elections are in August.  In the past, TJ has been dry during elections.  I've heard there's a new law and it won't be dry during the upcoming elections.  Either way, the Zona doesn't close and you will still find action during on election day.

I was thinking of taking my first trip to Tj this Saturday.  Plan on going to Adelitas and Mermaids.  I have seen posts that say these places sometimes close during elections.  When does this happen and Iam I safe this weekend?

READ the newspaper or the internet. LEARN. Elections are August 1.

Yes, they may allow booze this year and we will hear more as the elections approach.  Last year elections took place on July 4th.  It was a bummer since it was our holiday weekend.  Last year during elections the zona was horrible.  Most bars were closed and you couldn't get booze.  It may be different this year and we will know more shortly.  If there is no booze I would plan a trip at a different time.  Without booze, clients stay away and the bars really can't make much money.

I was at many clubs on revo last time, and even though they were not selling liquor, the clubs were still packed. Lots of chicas, and lots of action. For a known customer like myself, even the booze was available. They offered me mixed drinks in a coke cup at two places (Peanuts and BH).

Probably because Rev is not the zona and tourists were probably all over Rev on the holiday weekend with nothing to do since they couldn't drink.  I'm sure Rev was busy on an American holiday weekend. The average "tourist" would not have known about the elctions and booze ban.

I was referring specifically to the red light didtrict or what we call the zona.  It was not very good.  If the booze ban is on and you drink it's just not as much fun.  We shall see what they do this year as the elections approach.

The booze ban was clearly on. They were only selling sodas and water. My point was that for a known customer, there are workarounds available if you want to drink.

As noted above, the election will be on August 1st this year.  Currently PRI is expected to win.  Which should benefit mongers.

I stand by my statement that on election day the Zona doesn't close and that a monger can still find action there.  Put bluntly, the question, I beleive, was could a guy get a puta in the ZN on election day.  He can.  Can a guy get a drink in the ZN on election day?  Yes--if he's a well-known, well-liked monger. Which, I realize, excludes the majority of those who patronize the ZN.  I agree that election day is not the day to go to TJ if you go there to drink.  (It seems like a long way to go to get a drink; I can legally drink closer to home. I go there because I can't get the same action with working girls at the same price legally closer to home.)  Personally, I don't have to drink to have a good time with a chica--but to each their own.  I've also found that often when things are slow in the Zona that a savy monger does well there.
