Team I am going this Thursday arriving at 1 pm and leaving by 6 pm.  Going to Hong Kong and Adelitas and just wanted to know if it safe once agian.

Someone told you it was not safe before?

Just from I have heard from the news and at times the escalating violence.  I always check a couple of boards just in case things have changed.  You can never be too careful.  

I would suggest you check the boards and forget the news.  The news will make you think there was a big gun battle at the border, when if fact it was 20 miles away and far, far away from tourism.

Don't confuse Nuevo Ladero with Tijauna.  They're a 1000 miles apart in both geography and problems.

Tijuana is safe.  If you follow basic safety precautions that should be followed anywhere in the world--stay out of dark alleys, don't wander around drunk, etc.--you won't have any problems.  Personally, I find Tijuana's red light district a whole lot safer than I do seedy parts of many/mosgt major US cities.
