Is a little toke in your room safe to do by yourself or with a Chica  if you check into a hotel room for an over night stay in Zona Norte area?

It just doesn't seem worth it.  The San Diego reader used have stories of US guys put in Mexican prison for drugs and they were nightmares.  The police down there would love to catch a gringo with some pot.  It is a huge payday for them and they have a zero tolerance policy.   Enjoy the girls, drink the tequila, smoke before you cross the border and don't bring anything with you.  This is my paranoid advice.

Drugs of any kind and weapons will land your ass in jail. Don't be stupid.

If you are willing to risk a whole lotta grief, best bet would be to find a nice dark hole with no ventilation to toke up with.

If the cops smell you, your ass is their's. And I'm pretty sure the locals would not turn down turning you in for a share of whatever cash they can shake down off of you.
The policy is buy drugs in their country but don't do them there.

mexico law is different than ours YOU must prove that you are not gulity. Plus they will take you money, stuff. But if you want to get out of jail you will have to pay$$$$$$$$$ and get thrown out of the country. and if you come back and get cought they will throw you back in jail with no court date of any kind.
