I get two rooms when I go. Get a room with a balcony and an interior room. Balcony room is for partying and the interior room is for sleeping. The noise is insane..! It's something ya gotta see before ya die.! Cajuns are c-a-r-a-z-y. If you party with some Cajuns, don't try to out drink em or even keep up cuz ya can't. Have fun and party on!!
Pondering spending all my vacation money to experience Mardi Gras, is it worth the effort? Traveling alone do you think I have fun or what I just get lost in the crowds? I'm thinking Great food good drinks, why not? Thanks for any locals input and happy holidays!
Hi I am a New Orleans Local I can tell you Mardi Gras is fun and exciting but it's always fun to experience it with some one not alone . I always go to parades with friends i feel more comfortable that way I think you will have fun just be careful of your surroundings it can be a very dangerous place.
On what type of personality you have and how old you are. Some days are crazier than others. If you plan to stay downtown, that can be pretty intense. You almost have to be wasted just to deal with the wasted people
It's horrible to be in that crowd...not FUN at all. You may even be too late to try and book a room to be honest, but that's the only way I would do Mardi Gras. Even when I lived there my friends and I would book a room either uptown or on Bourbon, and cab it there vs. trying to drive and park, then get back out. It's worth the money IF you do it right.

I luv Mardi Gras! It can be hectic and crowded,but well worth it
just remember to pace yourself and always have a backup plan in case your plans get halted
