right about the time impounding and criminally charging the 'automobile' you were "cruising" in became popular with LE.

The Patriot Act later added possible "Terrorist" activities to their charges against the hobbyist. But a savvy Independent or hobbyist with a laptop and/or smartphone has got LE chained to a post.

from a female, authoritarian politician looking for notariety (and too keep a short leash on any possible SO.)

Any local DA will tell you the easiest way to bump-up one's "conviction rates" for the next election cycle is to go after the worlds oldest profession.

If you're still cruising the streets in 2013 you're pretty much guaranteed to find trouble of one type or another.

Stay out of the N. Valley and stay away from crackho's that are walking the street. Would you want them in your neighborhood? Anyone who gets popped trolling Sepulveda for hookers deserves it. eom.

My understanding is that you've identified the most deadly of the street denizens.  Even more fearsome than the dreaded skank ho.

It kinda started with "The War on Drugs" back in the 70's. By 1980 all commercial airline pilots were being forced to pee in a cup. After 911 any and all 4th Amendment Rights and protections were pimped to corporate America via the "Patriot Act". Today if you want to sell Christmas trees in a parking lot in December you must first waive any 4th Amendment Rights you thought you had and fill up the cup.

You can still be free in America; but it becomes problematic if you wish too earn a Dollar.

Puritanical mania has a long history in this country with big spikes at certain points--think of the Victorian era clamp down, Jazz age morality policing, Reagan era response to the swinging 60s and 70s etc.  For reasons best explored by sociologists we seem to have always been pretty uncomfortable with our sexuality--in fact we are much more comfortable with violence than with sex if a quick survey of movies and tv is any indication.  Then again compared to many other countries we're still just adolescents. And we know that by definition adolescents tend to have a pretty unsophisticated view and understanding of sex.

But I believe she was only asking why it's such a bitch finding welcomed employment in the fabled “Land of Opportunity”.
