Just happened to be looking at the list of top 100 providers. Only 5 in SoCal?!
And New York running the board?!

No way. We're in the land of California Girls. Are those NYC players easier graders? Are we missing out on the East Coast modeling scene?  

I demand an investigation. Although the work will be arduous and unforgiving, in an act of unselfish beneficence, I am willing to shoulder the burden of leading the task force that will sample the best reviewed ladies in each location and make a totally unbiased, impartial and unquestionably fair judgment.

NYC - Manhattan specifically - has the benefit of being more dense. A much larger population per square foot. Also, lots of money flowing in that mecca. I can’t blame a provider who would prefer it. Los Angeles is more spread out and has more pockets of lower incomes within its populations.

NYC area population is around 8.4M while LA County is around 9.8M. That should mean there is as good a chance of hot women coming here and entering P4P, especially as we're a magnet for entertainment production, including porn.

Between movies, real estate, music, TV, and aerospace, there should be lots of disposable income floating around LA too. The median income here is only about 1k less than NYC.

I guess the density might make women generally more accessible, but that would mean that LA men are falling behind generally on their shtupping because of accessibility. Maybe when I'm feeling bored I'll look at the total numbers of reviews in each city to learn whether NYC's higher score is just a result of more shots on goal.

I'm not trying to "rock the boat" but you're comparing NYC (New York City) to LA County, right?  So, the county will be much larger than the city and will encompass many other cities.  I don't know what counts as "LA" here, if that's just LA "proper" or the entire county.  As ladies identify as being based in specific cities, that might reduce the size of the "pool", if you will.

For example, I'm based in the S.F. Bay Area.  There are some ladies who identify Oakland or Berkeley as their base city, but the San Francisco rankings cover San Francisco only.

In any event, when talking about the national (all cities) ranking, I would have to ask:  are the ladies based outside of NYC providing similar service to those based IN NYC, to account for the top rankings being skewed more toward NYC-based companions?  Do they tend to provide Greek service?  Stuff like that.

But whether you count all 5 boroughs for some purposes and not others, notice the populations. My point is simply that each geographically contiguous area has roughly the same number of inhabitants, i.e. a similarly large pool of humans from which to draw. If that's the case, I just wonder why the pool of humans in NYC would produce more hot providers than a similarly large pool in LA.

 
If you compare just the City of LA to just Manhattan (presumably the center of P4P in the NYC area), that's 3.8M to 1.6M, respectively. You would think that with a pool 2x as big (presuming similar demographics and holding all other variables constant) we'd have 2x the hotties and 2x the highly rated reviews.

I have NO idea what's the right answer. I am just curious.

My point wasn’t about population in a vacuum. It’s about density which is population per square mile. And to be clear, NYC in this situation means Manhattan. The other boroughs are insignificant.

 
Los Angeles as a city, not the county, is 14 times larger than Manhattan. But that’s not even really the comparison, since the LA area is not just larger, but different in design. Places like Santa Monica and Beverly Hills probably should be factored in as well. Adding these will make it even larger.

 
If you look at the NYC ladies, 85-90% of them are in Manhattan. If you look at the LA area they are all over the map. They are in Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Ktown, Mid-City, La Brea, Venice, Marina Del Rey, Hollywood, etc… Depending where you are, access in LA traffic to some locations can be a challenge.

 
The density of Manhattan you can pretty much go from one end to another in about 30 minutes. And to be honest, with the number of options, I could live well traveling no more than 15-20 minutes. And the wealth in Manhattan is greater than the wealth of the city as a whole. The outer boroughs have more poverty.

 
And the tourism and people visiting on business is very robust. There are so many hotels in Manhattan. And men love to book escorts when they are traveling, especially family men who find it more difficult to do on their home turf. If I am a lady of the night, especially a high end one, I would view Manhattan as a gold mine.

The question is whether and why this would affect the number of high review scores.

LA's traffic is miserable, but crossing Manhattan on a weekday ain't no picnic. And even if there's a higher density, there's no proof that density would affect outcomes.  

Let's say that there are 100 providers per 10 square blocks of Manhattan, but only 50 (or 10) per 10 square blocks in LA. In that case, I could see where just by a normal distribution of attractive vs. unattractive women, the gross numbers would favor NYC--of course I'm going to find more attractive women if I have 100 to choose from vs. 50 or a lower number. But that would mean the men in LA aren't willing to travel beyond those 10 square blocks. I don't know that this is true. We see reviews in LA where men complain about the drive to a provider, and almost all providers are willing to do outcall, even in crazy LA traffic (I regularly see a provider who drives up from OC in weekday traffic). Which means that the players in LA have access to pretty much every provider in the City of LA. And I'm just talking about LA. If you count Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, and West Hollywood, the number of available ladies gets very high. Which in turn means the residents of and visitors to LA have the same opportunity to see as many pretty ladies as players in Manhattan.  

So, density alone can't explain it, unless we also say that the population of players and ladies in LA is somehow immobile or mobility disadvantaged. Or that visitors to LA are unwilling to give a provider enough time to make an Uber ride from Hollywood to their hotel near LAX. Maybe that's true. Maybe players in LA just won't see a lady who is farther away than the equivalent of a taxi ride across Manhattan. I'd be surprised to find that, but I suppose it could be. If it were true, it would certainly shrink the population of ladies that players in LA see, and concurrently would lower the total number of women who would score high.

Again, I started this thread as a lark. I do not presuppose i have an explanation. I simply question whether density alone can explain it.

One thing I believe is happening often is that providers are often removed from list due to certain factors at play.
I will use myself as an example here....  
For the past decade I have been the top provider in LA, and typically in the top 3 on the list of top 100 providers. This can however, change at a moments notice for a few reasons. First, no recent reviews: for a provider to remain on the list at all they need to have a new review every 3 months. Or they are completely removed. As for me, I am extremely low volume so this has been a challenge as I might only see one or two clients in a month. And if they are not "reviewers" then I'm out of luck that month. There have been several occasions where I have disappeared off both lists entirely, only to reappear once a new review is posted. And fake reviews can be another issue. I'm trying to remove two recent fake ones as we speak & it sometimes takes weeks. So if a provider is on the Top 100 list but barely there and she gets a fake review that lowers her rating, then poof, she's gone...
I believe there are some amazing providers here in SoCal, but perhaps just not showing up on the list.

Sure, the density alone cannot explain the high scores. There are probably some factors there that would take a deeper dive. Small antidote from my own experience. I have seen about half a dozen providers I saw early on in their escorting careers who scored very high, raised their rates and moved to NYC. No need for a car, outcalls if kept to Manhattan are easy by public transpo or taxi, and the cost of living is about the same as a nice city in LA.

 
On the flip side, I know two providers who relocated to LA from NYC in recent years. Both were on the way down. At their peak, they were legends. But they didn't maintain their status and moving to LA at least opened a new market up for them. But the reviews are telling as they are not getting the marks they once got.

 
So my point was that NYC because of its density might be a more attractive place for someone on the way up to relocate. I haven't analyzed this to see how many top ladies are relocations, so it's just reading tea leaves.

Thanks for the insights. Serves me right for thinking so one-dimensionally about the question. What you say makes a great deal of sense and explains a lot.

I think there are some like yourself who are off the charts and have great reviews, and for various reasons like the ones you mentioned may fall off at times. That said, I track providers on TER and top 100 does not factor into my tracker. I track them because I want to keep ones on my radar that I would like to see some day. I have come across way more in NYC than in Los Angeles. In fact, I find it's gotten harder to find good LA ones on TER.

 
Not sure if this is happening more in LA or not, but I have seen many start off on TER and delist. Some were great and had good reviews too. But for whatever their reasons were, they delisted. And while I do track NYC ladies, I do not tract them as closely. I'm not as in touch with if they delist or not.

 
My knowledge of LA vs NYC boils down to how I do my research. I will use criteria to look all over the US with TER filters. This is how I get NYC and elsewhere ladies on my list. The difference with LA is I will review websites like Tryst and cross check on TER for every LA lady. As nice as it is having options outside of LA, that limits me to if I travel to them or they tour. FMTY is out of my budget. So, I put more work in for LA. And, being honest, I struggle. Last time I went to NYC, I was like a kid in a candy store. It was impossible to make a choice.

NYC is littered with fake reviews and you'll see girls get banned from top 100 for review manipulation. A couple that come to mind are Gaia, Elise Ward, Freya Summer. You can still search for them if you know their name but they are banned from the lists. Some of the girls still on the top 100 have been banned in the past but got back in good graces.

If you are thinking of this Gaia, TER ID 404598, she is still listed on TER.

They still have active TER profiles, but are banned from the top 100 lists.

Couple more that I noticed, Eva Slutowska and Camila Subminska. They get new reviews pretty frequently with high overall average, but are no longer showing up in the top 100.

It takes a lot for them to be removed. I outlined two in a post awhile back and sent evidence to TER. From my perspective, it was pretty clear because they were copying and pasting reviews across multiple profiles. Somehow, nothing happened.
