Considering the number of reads I see the ads are getting, I am hoping this is working out for everyone. I see some ads getting over 1000 reads already.

I hope the discussion board will also be able to maintain new andinteresting topics.

if a bunch of LA posters share stuff here, and trolls stay away, that might be kind of cool.

Not that that's a big deal, but it's going to be very annoying to have to go to 4 sites (LA, OC, discussion boards, ad boards) to keep up with what's going on in one megalopolis.  Was bad enough with just the LA/OC divide.  And, of course, oceanside/escondido etc is an hour away for a lot of people in this zone.  So make it 5/6, for the people who are really core "OC" folks.

Not a big deal, in the big picture, but it's self-inflicted and therefore worth mentioning.  Might be better to assign tags to posts and let people filter, if they choose, or something.  

Dedicated regional ad boards offersv providers their, well deserved, own ad platform.  Is a great idea that serves both those who wish  to look through ads for local talent and those of us who do not want to search for discussion posts as if the are searching for a needle in a haystack.

You are right about that , let's hope it is only transitional, same with the themed photo days which are nothing more  thinly disguised ads . The LA ad board seems to be doing great and you could already see the improvement on this site.

Some rather talk than have a roll around in the hay.

The OC page shall die no doubt unless that is members get involved and post relevant topics that make for interest discussion. The community in OC only deserve a discussion board if they are willing to post and keep it current.

It is early days still , but the LA discussion page seems to have come alive , with the removal of the Ads threads seem to linger longer on the first 2 pages making possible for more people to read and respond to them.

If it is your problem , it is really serious because some hobby nearly as many times a week as you have total reviews. You better get going and catch up ,time is not your friend.

Perhaps if you make the effort to generate new topics and threads you'd find it interesting . People post about topics that are of interest to them. To me just the fact that I do not have to plough through the ads to find a discussion post can be described as progress and an improvement.

I'll gladly discuss my hobbying adventures and style once you write a review.

When this was the only board in town, discussions and ads were all together and people just got used to it.  Just recently, it has become an issue.  

But, in all my years on here, it was always the providers that complained so vividly about ads on this board.

I do not need to write a review to appease you, why would you ever think I would do that. Fake reviews , rediculous ratings influenced by pressure from independent providers and bookers , who needs to be part of that. You can write your reviews I am too busy hobbying.

What contribution have you made to adding to the diversity , quality and content of the discussion ?  If you can't run with run with dogs I suggest you take your place on the porch.

Show us your contribution ,that is if you have something relevant to contribute.

The discussion board is what you make of it. Maybe you should have created another thread asking your question specifiaclly and could have generated more topics of discussion. Let contribute and not whine about it. Would you rather have 4 topics and noone respond? Participate and maybe the boards will come alive is all I can recommend. Topics do not have to be mind blowing. From the mundane or whatever, let's make it a discussion board by discussing stuff.

It is up to every community to keep it's specific board alive, if they do not do that than perhaps they do not deserve to have an exclusive board.

If I wanted to visit the ad boards then I would. Don't force the ads on the discussion board. If you feel the ads are worth reading  then go to the ad board. Maybe people got used to it because they got complacent and did not want to improve anything. The change has happened, either enjoy it, or keep grumbling about it. It is all up to you. Contribute or just hang on by the wayside.

Maybe you should try contributing instead of complaining. Seriously. Try it.
