OK so that's a slight exaggeration, but only because I like to eat WELL!
I'd make:
~ massaged kale salad (raw) with orange juice, olive oil, minced raw garlic, shredded beets & toasted sunflower seeds (this is the star of the show... even if you hate salad you'll probably have a second helping... unless you hate garlic, then you're fucked)
~ roasted sweet potatoes (naturally caramelized but savory) w/ roasted garlic
~ sloppy-joe style red lentils
~ homemade english muffins if I can assume I already have yeast at home; otherwise fried toast
~ 1 poached egg each
If my friends don't eat eggs and/or bread I'll substitute a second roasted vegetable, probably butternut squash or maple-syrup-roasted brussel sprouts (they'll surprise you).
4-6 people for $15 is easy for me if I can assume I have basics like spices in my kitchen already. When I cater for 200-500 people, I often have a base food cost of only $2-3 per person. Most of my costs are in labor, kitchen rentals, paper goods, transportation, etc.
