I’m a member who for personal reasons keeps a very low profile -- I don’t write reviews and don’t post on the boards. That said, I’ve on several occasions noticed posts from members testifying to the generosity and kindness of the ladies here in LA. I’ve never doubted the truth of these posts but recently I’ve had occasion to learn exactly how true they are.
A few months ago, I suffered a fairly serious incident which has left me disabled. About a month later, I got a text from Jill Goodwyn (formerly Kate O’Connor). I responded, and we talked on the phone, at which time I explained my situation. Kate immediately offered to give me any help I needed -- rides to pick up groceries or run errands, or just someone to talk to if I needed to. She also notified a mutual friend who prefers to remain anonymous, but who also separately volunteered to help me out in any way possible. These women weren’t just saying nice but meaningless things -- they were totally serious and Kate has already come over, helped me out with a ride and shared thoughts over coffee. I have no doubt that my other friend will do so whenever she can.
I can’t begin to explain how touched and impressed I am by these two ladies. I've always considered them friends and it’s truly gratifying to learn that I got that absolutely right. I’ve got “real world" friends who tell me to please call if I ever need anything, and maybe they mean it -- I've found out that, yeah, I can call whenever I want, although they may not answer, may not call me back and may not help me out. Kate and her friend are not like that, and I think all of you should be aware of it.
Lots of guys wrap up a post by saying “treat her right fellas, she deserves it.” If you’ve ever thought that was just meaningless chatter, be advised -- you are truly lucky if you’ve gotten to know Kate and her friend (and there are others like them in town). So count your blessings, guys, and treat my friend Kate right -- she more than deserves it
