Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer.  I will begin my treatment after undergoing a breast MRI this Monday to determine whether the cancer is in just one, or both breasts.  Depending on the outcome of the MRI, I will need to make a decision whether to have a lumpectomy, or bi-lateral mastectomy.  Needless to say, it is a very difficult time in my life, but I must remain strong in order to beat this disease.

I urge the ladies, regardless of age, to be aware of the look, shape and feel of your breasts!  No matter what, if something does not seem right, have it checked! Cancer does not discriminate in regard to age, so please don't think that just because you are in your twenties, or even thirties, that it can't happen to you!  I will be fifty this year, but the cancer that I have been diagnosed with is usually found in women much older than me, and makes up approximately 10 percent of the cases each year.

If I can offer any advice at all other than to check your boobies, it would be to make sure you have a "Plan B".  I guess what I am saying is don't become complacent like I did!  Make sure you save for a rainy day, and look into DIEC (Disability Insurance Elective Coverage).  Two things I wish I had done!

Lastly, to all the wonderful gentlemen I met over the last seven or so years...Thank you!  It was fun!  I truly will miss this world, and wish you all the best.

Sincerely,

Sandra Alexander

Hi Sandra,

I am so sorry to read your post. I know personally what a difficult time this must be for you. I recently went thru this with my mother and thankfully she is doing well now. I cant imagine having the composure to sit down and write this message with so much on your mind. One of the first thoughts that came to my mind reading it is how classy and thoughtful you are to be thinking of the other women here in trying to protect any one of them from something similar.

If I could give you any advice from our experience it would be to focus on a healthy nutrient filled diet especially dark leafy green vegetables - you've probably heard about that already. And secondly do not discount fitness. If you have any time at all to increase your exercise routine do it now. it will help tremendously with your recovery. If you have the time I hope you will update us. I will be thinking of you.

I am a bit reluctant to bring this up here, but I do think it is important for providers to be aware of one possible causative factor in breast cancer, fibrocystic breasts, PCOS, and maybe endometriosis that has been slow to be accepted by many physicians.  Also for anyone with acid reflux and you guys concerned about prostate cancer, this might apply.  I won't go into detail here, but for those with interest, the link below provides a short summary and within my text are two other URLs you would need to cut and paste that will give much more information.  I have tested the methods developed by Drs. Abraham, Brownstein, and Flechas on myself and others and found them to work as claimed for the (non-cancer) applications intended.  I have also found that the majority of MDs out there just get a blank look on their faces when you mention this research since drug companies obviously don't teach it at classes for required CEUs.  As for breast cancer, as I understand it the disease has been mostly nonexistent in the patients of these doctors who have used the protocol.  But do your own research and reach your own conclusions.  Also, as mentioned in some of the literature, this can initially trigger detox reactions so need to also be aware of that.  There is clearly more than iodine required in these protocols in order to ensure no problems with the thyroid develop, but this information is available.  Feel free to PM me if anyone has any questions.  But the main thing is do your own research on this and reach your own conclusions.  I could ramble on about this for hours.  There are discussion boards on this at sites such as www.curezone.com.  Other important info is at:      www.optimox.com/pics/Iodine/opt_Research_I.shtml   and also at    www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoMfg76gAUo  which you would need to cut and paste.

I saw you several years ago and wish I had lived closer to see you more often.  you were so kind with me.   I'm so sorry to hear that this is happening to you and I'm sure you scared and angry but as you can see there are those of us here who are wishing you well and keeping you in their thoughts and prayers.  All of my best.

I know I don't know you, but I am very sorry to hear about this.
I hope that you can find a way to see a silver lining in this.
perhaps living more fully and doing more of what you love...
I know it won't be easy, but I imagine you'll be stronger and wiser for it, regardless of the outcome.

Namaste.

The lessons were how you are dealing with the scenario...not with anger as I'm apt to do in this ever more ratty race, but with leadership and compassion. Your post was about sharing your experiences with the desire to educate, instead of whine or bemoan. Thank you for that and my good wishes are with you too you very sweet lady!

Although we haven't seen each other for awhile, you have always
been on my list as one of the most loving and caring women, I've
ever met. I hope you can draw on the energy, this community
can generate for your well-being, during this trying time. Know that
you are loved by many who wish for you to emerge from this
challenge before you, as even stronger person.  You will be in
my thoughts, sweetie

but having gone through the trauma of being cured of Prostate Cancer via Radiation Therapy with its ensuing side-effects...all I can say is remain strong, flexible and adapt to whatever comes your way.  This, I say, is the ONLY way you will survive what you are about to go through.  You will go the valley of the shadow of near death and God willing you will survive knowing all the while that  many others have tread the path you are about to embark on and though you may feel completely alone...you are not.

Surround yourself with loving and supportive people and nothing less.

I love you and take care of yourself, Sandra.
