I need a room for two nights in January but want it to be relatively classy but reasonable and "work" friendly but with things to do and places to walk, eat, and shop around...  Can ladies and gents of West Los Angeles give me some tips on where to stay?

Any hotel in Century City Area.  It is close to the west side, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills. Also close to the 405 and 10 freeways.

You can also stay at my house! :)

Thanks!  I will certainly look into Century City and PM me about the house idea hehe (I do realize it was tongue in cheek) but truly thank you and Happy New Year!!!

I think the best hotels for elegance, service, privacy, convenience and walking/shopping for a decent price (and work) are:

Luxe on Rodeo

The Thompson

Maison 140

They're smack in the middle of Beverly Hills, so walking to the best restaurants, bars, clubs and stores is a breeze.  And no one at these hotels will hassle you.  And if I'm lucky, I'll see you at one of them. :)
