No provider should ever initate contact by text, phone, or email.  If you want to let us know you are available or in town post it on the discussion board.

it is still bad protocol and irresponsible for a provider to do that.

If Eliot Spitzer had been smart enough to go to Best Buy and pick up a disposable, untraceable phone, he'd still be Guvnor!  Get with it.  RT Technologically Savvy & Out

So many providers conduct background checks, demand anonymity and stress the importance of discretion. This "relationship" is a two-way street and hobbyists are entitled to privacy and discretion as well. It is unprofessional for a provider...any provider...to initiate unsolicited contact.

Yes, I have received unsolicited and unwanted phone calls from providers from time to time. My response? "Hello....Who?...I'm sorry, you have the wrong number." And then I hang up. Most are not stupid enough to phone back.

Shame on Marie.

A hobbyist should NEVER have to tell a provider not to call him whenever she feels like it. That should go without saying.
You know you are WRONG too.

Are you implying that your wife or SO has access to your personal cell phone? If so, get a separate and distreet phone and number! Don't blame the gal for trying to stay in contact. I personally find it very flattering that a gal may want to see me again. Just maybe she had a good time with you and hopes to repeat while not posting her availability on the discussion board! Sorry, just my opiniom. Ciao!

In that case, you've clearly informed the provider you have a bad boy phone and permission is given.  If permission is not explicitly given, it should not be assumed.

If you remember in Breaking Bad they found out that he had a throw away phone.  The problem with a throw away phone is that you have to explain it. I think it best is providers ask if they can contact you unsolicited.  If you give permission great.  If not they should not initiate contact.  As simple as that.

respect the privacy of a client unless you have been given specific instructions that it is OK to contact him.

You may enjoy getting a marketing message wrapped in a flirtatious text, but a divorce separating you from half your assets is a high price to pay for a little flattery.

And BTW, even if you keep your play phone at work, I guarantee you, women look at the laundry, smell your shirts, and will go CSI on your ass if they suspect something.  I've had GF's do this to me, and also my wife when I was married.

Likewise, one should never assume that a provider will not use a customer's contact phone #. If there is a risk that a provider will not follow your assumed discreet behavior, then one shouldn't use a phone that can be seen by others. This applies to most activities that are risky - the individual needs to take responsibility for taking the necessary precautions to reduce or eliminate the risk - not assume the provider will do so.

I've had a few providers send a mass email before where bcc wasn't used and several of the recipients were easily identifiable by their work email address.  Not very cool of the provider.
