I had arthroscopic surgery on my knee about 20 yrs. ago, as outpatient surgery.  When the anesthetic wore off, I went thru 2 strong prescriptions with no relief.  Went back to hospital, got admitted and they gave me a shot of darvon (not sure of spelling).  It didn't stop pain, just knocked me out.  Got second shot late in night, and back to sleep.  Went home next day, probably with some strong pain killer, don't remember for sure.

Other than that, I had a flare-up of bulging disks in my lower back, hurt so bad, I could hardly get out of bed.

Interesting question, Ashley, what's your answer to it?

Was in the wrong place at the wrong time and took a ricochet to the leg.  Couldn't go to a hospital cause it would have led to legal difficulties, so toughed it out with only Jack Daniels as an anesthetic. Ouchie!  TCHS

Couldn't stretch back or couldn't double over.  I was only 17 at the time and running track. Go Figure.
Had that once and never again.

Tore up every ligament in my knee and never was able to get back into the game again.  Painful both physically and mentally because I never got to chase my dream.  I will stop whining now!

Stupid youthful activity. As you can imagine, involved illegal substances. Plus money. Result: injury. Lucky to be alive. Lesson learned. TCHS

I don't recall it distinctly, since I was only a few days old at the time, but I'm sure it hurt a LOT and I cried.

a few months ago (yah I waited about 20 years too long) I finally broke down due to an infection and had my wisdom teeth pulled.  The top left one was a pretty difficult extraction and it caused a hole into my left sinus (called a oral nasal fistula).  That sealed up rapidly but a pretty bad sinus infection set in, and then dry socket  where the tooth used to be.  Bone and nerves were basically exposed to the air and for about a week it felt like a large steel spike and been hammered up through the left side of my mouth, through my sinus and into my skull, and then the spike slowly turned.

I was taking so much ibuprofen and vicodin it was insane.

It's called Break Bone Fever, for good reason.  Got it in Bora Bora a few years ago.  Ruined an otherwise lovely vacation.
That little mosquito can cause a whole lotta hurt.
Had malaria, while in the Army, no fun but a "Walk-in-the-Park"  compared to Dengue..

Just unbelievable pain with no anesthetic. That was the only time I've ever moaned in pain.   After surgery, sometimes I wished that I could cut my foot off to make the pain go away.  It blows when pain killers wear off.
