I can't find any evidence in the article that the ladies were trafficked which I take to mean forced into prostitution against their will.  I think the moral of the story is not to be so organized and to just hobby for yourself and by yourself, because whoever you are back channeling with or collaborating with could turn on you in a way that could seriously cost you.  I wonder how many of those guys are still married.

If there is a moral to this story, it is that you can't be too careful or discreet these days.

So the 'annonymous john' (who is presumably a hobbyist himself) contacted one of the accused on TER, and then turned the group into the authorities because the girls the accused men were seeing were illegal?  Am I understanding that correctly?

I'm wondering how much the girls' immigration status played into the zealousness with which the authorities pursued the case.   Were the authorities previously devoting much time and money to busting local hobbyists, or traveling (US citizen) providers?

Also, the fact that they were actively bringing the girls across state lines seems like monumentally poor judgment on their part.  Seriously, some of them were attorneys, and they had to know that doing so took it from being a state misdemeanor to a federal offense.   It's almost as bad as Elliott Spitzer transporting his girl across state lines.

Clearly, I think it is a stupid waste of time and money for these men to be prosecuted, and the laws really need to be changed.  But to transport illegal girls across state lines is pretty bold and almost seems like asking for trouble.

Minneapolis District Atty. Susan Segal also makes more personal political donations than God and is the woman who stood behind police for arresting zombie-protesters whose backpack ipods resembled... weapons? :/ Definitely really unfortunate/scary for the clients involved in the bust & what it represents for the hobbyist community, esp. if this is a precedent for going after web forums... but I'm just wondering as to why they missed the midterm elections...

yes that is how they mean you to take it.
they want everyone to think that trafficked means forced prostitution.

it doesn't.
the prostitution element is completely unnecessary.
drugs can be trafficked but i dont think your coke stash is gonna suck a blank no matter how much you threaten it.

of course, i'm always open to being enlightened of any factual information to the contrary so if anyone is keeping mary jane as a sex slave, please do share with the rest of the class.

The lady wasn't "trafficked" but these days if the lady is cooperating with the authorities, as was the case here, then she will likely say she was coerced in some way.  This hasn't been, as yet, a Federal case but I suspect that at least one of the guys will be indicted by the Feds now.

The motivation for most of these high energy prosecutions is when an agency or some other "ring" is suspected.  Bigger bank for the buck and other things like drugs, tax evasion, money laundering, illegals, under-age,  and other shit comes out of it which are all felonies in addition to promoting prostitution, which is a felony
