Saw a piece on the early AM Atlanta news (8-11-2007) where LE apparentlly put an add on CL and busted a large number of potential "Hobbyists"

Anyone else experience this anywehre else recently?

Best to not usse CL as your sole source for finding a provider.

Keep your ears to the ground and check your local boards for reports.

LE knows all about CL, and will use it whenever they want to.  If the only thing you know about a gal is her CL ad, you are at risk visiting her.

Department of Public Affairs
For Immediate Release
8/13/2007
Department: Police

UNDERCOVER ONLINE OPERATION RESULTS IN ARRESTS OF 15 PEOPLE
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Eight men and seven women have been arrested as a result of several undercover online prostitution investigations that began in December 2006.

Detectives reviewed Internet classified advertisement Web sites and chat rooms to identify people who requested sex in exchange for money or provided sex for money. Meetings were arranged between undercover detectives and the individuals from the online dialogues. Once detectives confirmed the suspects’ intentions, nearby detectives moved in and took the men and women into custody.

The breakdown of the charges is as follows:

15 - prostitution
10 - use of a vehicle for solicitation of prostitution
1 - carrying a concealed weapon

If convicted of solicitation for prostitution, suspects are required by state law to submit to an HIV test and must participate in counseling about HIV and its transmission.

I think the days of dating via CL are about over.  Legit providers are staying away as much as possible.  But in many areas like Reno it's the only real venue.

I guess LE wants to drive everyone back onto the street rather than keeping our business in private where it doesn't bother anyone.

They aren't targeting girls who are pimped out or forced into the biz. They aren't targeting minors or girls forced into sex slavery.  No, in Reno and Chicago anyway they went after local women who were trying to make ends meet.

Much of the recent activity is fueled by the fact that SEX SELLS and what sells better than a juicy sensationalistic show about prostitutes getting busted and handcuffed (can you say - bdsm?) and degraded on TV.

Why what goes on in my bedroom is so important to so many people and why they are willing to waste so many tax dollars to stop me from having consensual sex is totally beyond me.

Yet these same people do not offer ANY solutions for getting out of the biz, beyond "get a real job."  All they want to do is degrade and cause further harm by arresting generally good people for super minor things.

Sheesh,
TS Jamie

...that it is wide out in the open where anybody can see it.  The general public does not have Escort Malls, E-G, TER shoved in their face.  Anybody looking for anything on CL can see "Erotic Services".  Next thing you know they are pressuring the authorities who will then respond to citizen complaints.  IMHO most LE would rather be pursuing people who hurt other people.  However when escorts & clients get too public then somebody is going to start making specific documented complaints which LE then cannot ignore.

It's just like the old rule, "If your incall is your home, don't piss off your neighbors."

If you want to be left alone you need to keep the profile low.

BTW there seems to be plenty of pimped girls on CL which is one of many reasons many guys stay away.

CL is the easiest way for a gal to get started.  LE across the country can do this only periodically.  All levels of government are no longer plush with money.  They do not have the resources to contribute much manpower to busting consentual sexual arrangements.

It's like in grade school:  If all the kids are acting up, there are not enough corners for the teacher to make them all take timeouts.
