If the link doesn't go directly to the chart, click on  the "US Federal and State Prostitution Laws and Related Punishments" link on the left hand side.

usually much more harmful ,huliating, & damages one's future more than a minimal punishment for a 1st offence.

including the  jurisdictions that have (mandatory jail time on 1st offence).

"solicitation charge/conviction" have a shame & stigma quite severe & unique ,even worse than even serious crimes.

society & future employment looks very harshly at this particular charge.

ie: you could be convicted multiple DUIs, insurance fraud, domestic crime, drugs ,pety theft etc... and society will see those as a "mistake" that you have now learned & moved on but Sol charge you are the scum of the earth forever..

I could certainly overlook a solicitation  charge and hire someone - might even be a plus for them.

handle it for you, you won't have contol anymore

If you don't mind your "personal hardship" merly a mouse click away.

That is wonderful that some employers are more open minded. hence, unfortinatly licensing boards do not take that stance.

The sentence is finite

The arrest & /or criminal record is infinite.

For every open minded employer  ,most will not forgive & forget so easily.
The arrest alone regardless of outcome can cause severe pain ,forever and  in so many unforseen circumstances
IE:
If you are ever the plantiff or defendent in a civil case WC,PI divorce, name change, lottery win, victim of a crime ,need goverment assistance etc..the arrest & /or conviction can haunt you.

I wish our society & LE  would focus on more important issues but until then...

In NH you can petition the court to expunge your record after a short period of time with no arrests.  Attached is a link on all states expungement processes.

It is considered a misdemeanor- maximum punishment is 1 year in county jail and/or up to $2500.00 fine.   In Northern Va jail is rarely imposed for 1st offense.
