She never responded to my email asking for details and I am very suspicious as LE is not going to (IMO) pay money they cannot retrieve.  I seriously doubt Vegas LE would pay a 50% deposit.

A traveling escort from St Louis reported (see link) that she was lured to Vegas by a nice guy using e-mail.
He paid a 50% Pay Pal deposit.
She shows up. They connect at her hotel room prior to dinner.
They agree on a quickie on the couch before dinner.
Three more cops enter the room immediately, arrest her, and keep her in jail three days. Jeez.

Cops of course acting undercover have solid legit IDs, so no amount of screening is effective.

What can a traveling escort do to prevent this without alienating all of the legit hobbyists with a background check, interviewing the wife, employer, etc?

What a waste of taxpayers' money.
This is nothing less than official terrorism against escorts to discourage them from visiting Vegas.
Meanwhile, 100 miles away, are official bordellos that look like trailer parks and offer the trailer park experience at a Park Avenue price. This is insane!

It might help these ladies to have the names of a few Vegas defense lawyers with a track record of geting them out fast and having charges reduced or go away.

The same scenario of course can be used to ensnare a hobbyist going to Vegas. A major hottie escort ad. The lure of an inexpensive dinner date with bj and fs. A quickie bj request before dinner. In come the same three cops and arrest the hobbyist.

Of course in most civilized nations this could never happen.

And a complete waste of governmental resources. I just cannot believe the trouble they went through in this case to bust one provider. I thought prostitution was legal in Vegas anyhow. What is the deal with that? And what is LE playing at? Do they know that word of this will get around and so it's all simply to discourage out-of-towners?
What the F***!

LE decided to try to leverage her for a larger target.
The incident toward a sole visiting provider seems very odd without a larger more paranoid explanation. LOL
Keeping her 3 days was very strange, unless there was very lengthy uncounseled interrogation on several subjects in depth.
The key is what questions they asked her, but she has not been very communicative, posting only once without detail on TBD Vegas. Hmm. Someone should look into this discreetly.
I looked but could not find her pic or URL anywhere and had not heard of her before, but then I'm only one small pooner in this vast universe.

My evil twin, Schlong, thinks she was a total scam and con. He posted an explanation on the General Discussion Board.
Interesting theory.

that while bordellos and brothels are legal in Nevada (mind you, not within the city limits), "indys" and "street action" are not. . . perhaps they are trying to stop the indy action.  The state gets dollars from the "legit" enterprises but don't from the freelancers.  Just a thought . . . kisses to all

Lace

I guess MsLacey answered the question that I asked (below) but, if an Indy doesn't give the state their cut, isn't she guilty of failure to pay local taxes/(fees whatever) rather than prostitution if it is legal in the state?

Lawyers please educate me. Is prostitution only legal in Vegas in the designated houses? If this is a dumb question, it wouldn't be my first. ;)

Nevada legalized prostitution only in the smaller counties, excluding the Vegas and Reno-Tahoe areas.
Even where legal you have to be licensed, and that brings into play the whole element of local control and politics.
The result is the trailer park bordello concept, concentrated outside of Carson City in the north of Nevada, and around Pahrump northwest west of Vegas some distance.
The law does not seem to allow for a licensed indy, only the incall bordello concept.

There are tons of websites on this, both the brothels and Nevada law. I think this summary is accurate. I've spent months in Nevada doing wilderness photography on vacations and occasionally dropped into these places for a drink at the bar. There is nothing sensuous about the places at all. They are tacky, tasteless, and all biz, horrendously overpriced.

By contrast, you can fly up to a major Canadian city and find fabulous choice in a delicious environment. Nevada brothels are terminally low class. Pardon my elitism. It's not that, but an appreciation for aestheticism, beauty, charm, etc, everything that is lacking in Nevada.

and one of the most clever I've ever seen in my many years as the not so evil twin & cousin of secret clone of 007.

The details are coming out on the very interesting Boston board where two dudes were similarly conned and scammed.

This is a major warning to hobbyists of things to come in this evil world of so many self-centered greedy beings.
