Is TER vulnerable to MN. LE?  Why are there no more recent posts on the MN. regional site after the handcuff pic?

TER VIP's would only be vulnerable for what they have done irrespective of being TER VIP's IMHO.  When Hobbyists forget that they are not pimps, then they open themselves up to trouble.

I guess I am wondering if LE could get to TER records i.e. real names of members etc.? I wouldn't think this would be the case but why did everybody stop posting? Any opinions?

As for the records.  It is my personal understanding that all records are kept off-shore.  There are threads about this issue on the board.  A search would be enlightening.

Don't mean to be argumentative but if records are kept offshore and members are not in danger, why keep a low profile?

just don't want their handle out there knowing that LE and anyone who read the paper are looking at the board.  Or they just want to be discreet right now with their review history that tied to their handle.  Or a number of other reasons.

It all boils down to prudence.

It's not so much that TER VIPs are vulnerable ...  the servers being located in the Neatherlands so hopefully immune from searches for what it not a crime in that coutry.  However, this is a public forum.  Anybody can read it, including LE.  There is something to be said for being discrete.

In Phoenix, LE has been using TER review-writing as an element in charging clients of the big agency bust with pandering.  In order to make it stick, however, they needed proof that the writer of the review was the same guy that the provider (apparently) identified in a photo lineup as someone with whom she had sex for money.  (The providers who worked for the agency virtually all folded like cheap suits the moment they walked into the police station.)

It appears that it was not until, inexplicably, a hobbyist voluntarily walked into police headquarters and connected some real names with TER handles that things really started to get ugly for the clients.  (Also, at least one detective infiltrated both the agency's offices and a hobbyist group.)

So, if no one in the world knows the connection between you and your TER handle, you're probably safe, because as stated elsewhere, TER's legal structure would be very difficult for LE to penetrate (ahem).  On the other hand, if you're part of a group, or have a number of friends who know of your hobbying and reviewing, then it might be a good idea for everybody to sit down for a beer and remind each other that if you don't hang together, you might hang separately.

to create a private anonomous email address and change it on your TER account profile.
Any TER member is searchable in the "whitelists" just by entering an email address..so while LE may not ,or in the case of DD they might have that information..a suspicious spouse ,gf,co-worker,vicious ex who stumbles across TER can enter your email address and cause you some major heartaches.
And if the have the client database and your email is in there it will be easy to link you to your TER handle.
Stay safe guys

so azlawman; if I am to further understand as you place things in better perspective; if you made 1 review to basically gain access to the board well over 1 year ago that was been a fictious dream; and the provider is no longer out there in the business and does not even have a website... our records are basically safe ? No going back to some old computer records search ?

If you used an e-mail obiviously connected to you, it would be a good time to change it (easily done) & clears any old addresses.  Don't use a e-mail that connects to your handle(s).

I don't think they have to go after TER records since agency info is already siezed.

If you're really worried, scrub your computer.  Cancel your hobby phone.

great suggestions!  But it assumes that they haven't already got your email and/or phone information--both easily done for LE.  I heard a radio talk show interview yesterday with one of the cops and he said that they have preserved and searched literally hundreds of email accounts.  I guess will tell, but the time to hide was probably before this all started.

sorry to be do dire.

In my opinion, LE will never get a conviction of a guy without the provider, based solely on him having written reviews.  If the subject of someone's sole review is gone and not under investigation, given the rules of evidence, I don't see how it can be proven that the review writer either a) committed an actual illegal act with a provider, or b) sought to support an unlawful enterprise (people have lots of reasons for writing reviews that have nothing to do with supporting the provider/agency.)

As for the security of TER's records, that's a moot point in the Phoenix case because the owner of the 3 busted agencies kept a contact list of real names, addresses, cell phones, emails, and TER handles, all in one handy-to-use spreadsheet.  I know of no indy (or any other agency) whose stupidity and arrogance has ever risen to that level.

Just ask any of the BD members when all ofthat shit was going oin in Tampa. 50 got everything, but the case was weak and BD ended up winning, however it hurt their biz bad at the time. When it comes to RICCO you are toast, it is a law that is all emcompasing to say the least. However, if a review states that this si a writing of fiction and it came from your mind, then you are OK. If you get a cghance go back through all ofthe BD stuff online.
