Ok, curious what you all may think.

I live in an area which is rumored to be under recent LE scrutiny.  I have previously seen a provider who is a traveler, has reviews here, and who sets up incall near a local airport.  The area near the airport is highly trafficked.  There has been confirmation of busts in this locale in the past.

I have only seen this provider once - but it was a great experience.  I screened her here on TER and met her about 2-3 months ago.  She did very little screening of me and only checked me against my drivers license when we first met.

I contacted her recently and found out she was to be visiting soon.  Before she arrived I called her to tell her about recent rumored LE activity and mentioned several safe potential incall possibilities outside the highly trafficked airport area - hoping she would consider those.

On the day of the meeting, she called to ask for confirmation.  I returned the call, saying I would meet at the appointed time, but needed to know where she was.  She returned the call giving me only a general location.  I drove to this location which had several incall possibilities - one where I had previously seen the provider before, and one which is heavily trafficked by travelers.

As I drove by the one incall where I had previously seen the provider - and which was the most likely location to see her again - immediately caught my attention as there was a guy standing out front in the parking lot looking, to my eye, quite conspicuous - appearing as to be looking for something or someone.  He had a cell phone in his hand.

Now this incall is the kind of place that travelers like - it's got outdoor access and is cheap.  I drove by and thought this didn't look quite right.  So, I pulled over to an adjacent area, which allowed me to watch the activities of the front of the building - and called the provider.  She said she couldn't see me and needed me to drive in front of the building.  I told her I didn't know what building she was referring to and asked her which building she was in.  She confirmed it to be the building I had driven by.    I asked her what side of the building she was in - front or back - she said front, then asked me to drive into the parking lot and to park next to a specified car there so she could identify me, then she would give me  her room number.

This all sounded so strange to me - because it was so different from my first encounter.  In fact, it was 180 degrees different from the first meeting, so it raised a flag.  As I pulled out from the adjacent building, I could see the man who was previously outside in the parking lot had now taken a position inside a car and was clearly looking for somebody.  I could not see a cell phone.  But next I saw another person standing on a  walkway high on the building watching the parking lot.

There was absolutely no way I was going to drive into that lot at that building, so I drove by - and drive on - with my hair on end.

Am I paranoid or would others have done the same thing??

you just described some of the paranoia I tend to feel when I go to hotels. I try to screen screen screen but I have this paranoid fear that someone may have flipped and the cops are waiting behind door #1.

All I can say is to go with your gut. When I listen to my gut instinct, I do fine. It's the times I ignore it that get me into trouble.

It would be different if 1) the guy with the cell phone out front (perhaps her sentry?) weren't there 2) the other guy pops out from a lookouts perspective 3) she gives me very specific information on where to park and 4) I've met this gal before - and she's got a new thing going.  I believe she remembers me, she remembers my phone number, I've spoken with her on more than one occasion before, so why the request to park in a specific place.

That really flipped me.  It made no sense.  My gut said get out.  Maybe she was busted the last time she was here and she had been "turned".  There weren't 1 or 2 things that were out of sorts, there were about 5 things.  If it was a setup, I must say, it wasn't done very well.

Too bad, I really enjoyed her company.  Never again.

Makes me wonder if I should pitch my "GoPhone" too...

You did the right thing.  If something doesn't feel right get out of there. There are many other porviders out there for next time.

Wasn't that the scene where Leonardo DiCaprio is sitting in his car outside the Miami Airport terminal and his fiancee is standing outside the entrance as the flipped pigeon for undercover LE watching all around?

I have gone through all the cloak and dagger stuff with a first time provider, but on the second meeting, I've never experienced it.  I always get their hotel and room a day or two before I see them.  I would have asked her "What's up?" and seen what she said.

Also, if it's a setup, why have a guy stand in front with a cell phone?  Sure way to scare off the prey.

I agree with you 100%, mrfisher.  It was definitely a mixed bag of feelings.  On the one hand I felt the person outside of the car was way too obvious - he had a cell phone up to his mouth - but when I called, he retreated to his car.  He might have been a "sentry" for her - but again, this is a new thing.  Then another guy pops out from a higher position on the walkway in front of the hotel and is just hanging out and watching.

The thing that made my hair stand up was the way the provider was very specific about where I parked and about "making me".  It just didn't add up.

It wouldn't have mattered what she said to me if I asked what was up or not, it all didn't smell so good - so I left.

Better to be safe than sorry, right?

go with your guts not to mention you would have had a terrible time if you were that nervous!!! I have had people think I was a cop because I seemed to clean cut compared to what they see on TV as an escort or previous experience unless they hobby often. I for one never give out the room number until you show up no matter how many times we have encountered. Its for your safety more so than mine. I dont want you to get robbed or if the LE did catch on not to stop you and detain you. I was in Baltimore airport BWI area and I think a Pimp was looking for his girl might had owed him money, he came in and said he forgot his verification ID and 2 other forms. well when he left, I booked in the next hotel right away for fear one of my clients would get hurt or robbed. I never keep more than 200.00 on me I always send money to myself, deposit and pay all bills green dots ect so I dont get robbed or hurt yet have enough in case I do nothing happens either.

this exact scenario just happened to me (except i had NOT seen the particular provider before). Did you happen to be in a relatively small, northeastern state capitol? :-) I don't mind saying the name of the city, but I don't want to "out" it in case you are still nervous.

I'm curious because it was very weird. I got a slight bad vibe during the phone conversation, so I pulled into a parking lot across the street from the hotel to make my final call. Same thing, a guy came outside with a cell phone, obviously looking around. I elected not to go up to the room, but hung around in my car for a while. She called back after a while, and the guy with the phone was definitely cruising the parking lot - he even came across the street to the convenience store - he checked me out, but did not approach me.

Was it a set up, or were they robbing cars? Or were they just ultra paranoid about le themselves? I guess I'll never know :-)
